KLA seeks to recruit a dynamic individual to fill in the position of Accountant cum Administrative officer.
The successful candidate should have:
- At least five years progressive experience in a similar position with an NGO or equivalent;
- A Bachelors degree (Finance/Accounting) from a recognised university. A masters degree in the same field will be an added advantage.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-Kenya) or ACCA.
- Experience in using financial accounting software/accounting packages including Quickbooks, SUN and Pastel and maintenance of fixed asset register.
- An understanding of the international Financial Reporting Standards.
- Excellent administrative skills and proven ability to draw contracts.
- Computer literate: Word Processing, Spreadsheets (MS Office), Email, Internet.
- Excellent problem solving skills, Fluency in English, written and spoken.
- Ability to work under great pressure, within strict deadlines and establish priorities.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor own work plan and those under supervision.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the National Coordinator, the Accountant cum Administrative officer will be responsible for;

- Development and implementation of financial and administrative systems and procedures in accordance with the standard policies to ensure efficiency in financial and administrative processes to ensure compliance.
- Preparation of organizational budgets, programme proposal budgets and cash forecasts, monitoring actual expenditure to budgets.
- Preparation and revision of annual budgets, financial projections and reporting within statutory deadlines.
- Maintaining all financial records and required supporting documentation.
- Provide appropriate financial advice and support to management and KLA board.
- Day-to-day running of the Finance department particularly in enforcing policy requirements as well as ensuring compliance with internal controls and recommending areas for improvement.
- Assist and provide the information required to the management team for purposes of budget preparation and compiling and maintaining records.
- Advising partner organisations on effective financial management processes and reporting
- Overseeing the day-to-day administration activities of the organization.
The position is on contractual terms.
