Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Loans and Client Services Accountant is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the client’s records, ensuring the timely preparation of bills on all loans and or monitoring the payment of such bills.
He/she is expected to follow up outstanding payments, apply the related penalties and ensure ongoing communication with the client and country offices. The primary goal is to ensure the completeness, accuracy, relevant, timeliness and transparency in the reporting of loans, grants and equity.
He/She will also ensure the timely disbursement of approved loans, grants and equity subscriptions in accordance with Bank procedure.
Principal duties and responsibilities:

Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Process disbursement applications that are certified by the operations department and ensure compliance with disbursements procedures and contractual obligations
- Ensure that clients loan accounts are set up in the system promptly and that accurate and complete records relating to loans, including authorized signatories, list of goods and services, declaration dates of the loan effectiveness etc are maintained;
- Liaise actively with operations department, country offices and borrowers on the disbursement related problems to ensure their timely resolution and support on time disbursement;
- Provide information on projected or expected disbursement to the Treasury Manager to facilitate liquidity management and cashflow planning;
- Prepare documentation to support the reimbursement of disbursed funds from financing sources;
- Enforce approved procedures and guidelines for billing and collections and recommend improvement where appropriate;.
- Ensure that borrowers are fully appraised of billing and repayment regulations;
- Ensure that billing statements are prepared and dispatched on time and track the repayment of amounts due for principal, interest, commitment fees
- Ensure that all loan transactions including cancellation, disbursements and repayment are recorded accurately and in a timely manner;
- Prepare monthly projections of loans and interest income receivables;
- Maintain communication with the operations department and portfolio management departments including country offices and ensure that they are promptly advised on missed payments;
- Prepare periodic reports on disbursement activities and disbursement projections for management and the Board ;
- Proactively liaise with other departments in the development of new products or services to ensure that all the details concerning implementation of the new products are properly considered;.
- Assume leadership role, supervise the work of team members, providing guidance and monitoring performance.; and
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience.
- Bachelor of Commerce or Finance degree from a leading University;
- Relevant postgraduate degree in Finance with Professional Accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA;
- Must have over seven years hands on experience at senior level managing loans and credits and/or Account Receivables within a busy commercial environment or international organization;
- Must have a proven track record of having developed innovative processes and the ability to work in a highly dynamic environment;
- Hands on experience with use of financial processing systems such as Oracle Financials and a loans processing tool;
- Diligent and ability to work with minimum supervision in a multinational and multicultural environment;
- Good report writing and communication skills.
