NIC Bank Group - Director, Technology & Operations and Director, Finance & Strategy

Following the said growth and expansion of the Bank's business and operations, and in anticipation of the next strategic growth cycle, the following key career opportunities have arisen within the Group:

1. Director, Technology and Operations

This is a senior management position in NIC Bank, reporting to the Group Managing Director.

The incumbent will lead the Bank's Information Technology, Banking Operations and Branch Network teams and provide leadership in the development of effective and efficient operations. The position will be based in Nairobi, and the successful candidate will be a member of the Bank's Executive Committee.

Key Deliverables include:
  • Development of superior operational standards
  • Management of the Bank's Information Technology platform.
  • Development and implementation of effective processes to support first class customer service.
  • Ensure that an Operational Risk Management framework is maintained that continuously supports the Bank's dynamic business environment.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and banking legal requirements in relation to operations.
  • Management of operational costs while ensuring optimal staffing levels.
  • Effective leadership of a large multi-faceted operation, service delivery and IT team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold a first degree in Economics, Business Management or Information Technology
  • A Masters degree in Business Management or related qualification will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in Banking, 5 of which should be in a senior management position in banking operations.
  • Have a good understanding of banking operations including treasury operations, credit operations, trade services as well as online banking products.
  • A professional qualification in ICT will be desirable.
2. Director, Finance and Strategy

This is a senior management position in NIC Bank, reporting to the Group Managing Director. The incumbent will play a leading role in the formation and implementation of the NIC Bank Group strategy as well as providing value-adding financial management information and analysis to the Board of Directors to support decision making.

He/ she will monitor and report on the financial performance of the Bank and its subsidiaries and coordinate all the strategic and financial planning activities of the Group. The position will be based in Nairobi, and the successful candidate will be a member of the Bank's Executive Committee.

Key Deliverables include:
  • Group strategy formulation and implementation
  • Preparation of Financial Management Information for the Board of Directors.
  • Group strategic planning and budgeting
  • Monitoring of the business segments' financial performance
  • Review of financial reports ensuring they comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Preparation of accurate and timely statutory financial reports.
  • Coordinate the activities of external financial services providers including auditors, insurance brokers and underwriters.
  • Provide leadership to a team of accounting professionals.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Holder of a BCom (Accounting) degree or similar discipline
  • Professional accounting qualification, CPA(K), ACCA or ACA
  • Minimum 10 years work experience, 5 of which should be in a senior finance and/ or strategy role in a large organization.
  • A Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related fields.
