Reporting to the Managing Director, the Chief Procurement Officer will be head of Procurement Division and based in Kitale. He/she will be expected to provide strong leadership to the Division to facilitate the achievement of set procurement goals and objectives for the attainment of the Company’s Vision and Mission.

Chief Procurement Officer

The role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Chief Procurement Officer will be head of Procurement Division and based in Kitale. He/she will be expected to provide strong leadership to the Division to facilitate the achievement of set procurement goals and objectives for the attainment of the Company’s Vision and Mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulate relevant Procurement Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure the Company complies with the provisions of the Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005.
- Manage the Procurement and Supplies function of the Company including Tendering, Procuring and Disposal.
- Secretary to the Tender Committee.
- Coordinate the Tender and Procurement Committees.
- Ensure smooth flow of information material, control and accountability.
- Provide effective leadership, guidance and expertise in all aspects of procurement.
- Develop and manage the division’s budget and plans.
- Supervise and appraise staff within the division.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Business Management or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Post graduate diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management.
- Be a member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) or any other relevant professional body.
- At least 6 years relevant post qualification experience, 4 years of which should be in a senior position in a busy Commercial and /or Manufacturing organization.
- Possess strong strategic and analytical skills
- Knowledge of public sector Performance Contracting regime.
- Be of high integrity and able to meet stringent deadlines.
- Excellent Communication skills
- Computer literate
- Be at least 35 years old.
The position of Chief Procurement Officer is on permanent and Pensionable Terms of employment.
