1. Registration Officer I

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Evaluating efficacy trial reports;
  • Monitoring efficacy trials on pesticides;
  • Evaluating pesticide labels;
  • Preliminary dossier evaluation;
  • Processing imports/exports applications;
  • Carrying out completeness checks on technical dossiers;
  • Updating registration database.
Requirements for Appointment
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines; Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution with three (3) years relevant experience;
  • A Masters degree in a related discipline from a recognized institution;
  • Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance;
  • Competent in computer applications.
2. Laboratory Technologist I

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Planning, supervision, evaluation and coordination of laboratory analysis;
  • Ordering and maintaining records for the laboratory;
  • Undertake analytical laboratory.
Requirements for Appointment
  • Have a Higher National Diploma in Applied Sciences from a recognized institution
  • Have completed at least three (3) years satisfactory service as Laboratory Technologist II or its equivalent;
  • Have shown a high degree of technical competence;
  • Be computer literate.
3. Laboratory Technologist II

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Laboratory analysis in specified matrices;
  • Preparation of reagents for laboratory work;
  • Undertake any other laboratory work assigned.
Requirements for Appointment
  • Have an Ordinary Diploma in Applied Sciences from a recognized institution,
  • Have served satisfactorily in the grade of Laboratory Technologist III or its equivalent in related organization for at least three (3) years;
  • Have demonstrated initiative and competence in discharging assignments;
  • Be computer literate.
4. Inspector II

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Inspection of pesticide quality and premises suitability;
  • Processing of imports and exports documents for pesticides;
  • Certify that pest control products handled from manufacture through to use have been approved and registered for use in Kenya.
Requirements for Appointment
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines; Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Entomology, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Veterinary, Public Health and other related sciences.
5. Procurement Officer I

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Implementation and enforcement of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, Stores regulation systems and procedures to ensure efficiency in supplies services;
  • Processing of contracts, stock control, verification and distribution of stores;
  • Ensuring efficient procurement / purchasing of stores;
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.
Requirements for Appointment
  • Have a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences such as Procurement, Commerce / Business Administration, Economics or related discipline from a recognized institution;
  • Have Post Graduate Diploma in Supplies Management from a recognized institution;
  • Have served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Procurement Officer II or an equivalent position in a reputable organization;
  • Have demonstrated professional competence and ability in work performance;
  • Be registered or affiliated to a recognized professional body;
  • Competence in Computer applications.
6. Internal Auditor I

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Executing audit programmes;
  • Collecting audit evidence on major issues;
  • Reviewing internal control systems in operation;
  • Verifying the existence and safety of PCPB’s assets;
  • Preparation of draft reports and holding discussions with the clients;
  • Reviewing budgetary controls on the issuance of authority to incur expenditure and commitments;
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of records and reports.
Requirements for Appointment
  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting or Finance option);
  • CPA Part III or CIA Part III
  • Served as an Internal Auditor in a reputable organization for a period of three (3) years;
  • Be proficient in Computer Applications.
7. Personal Secretary II

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Recording dictation in short-hand and transcribing it in written form;
  • Typing from drafts and manuscripts;
  • Processing data;
  • Ensuring security of office records, documents and equipment including classified materials;
  • Preparing responses to simple routine correspondence;
  • Operating office equipment;
  • Handling telephone calls and appointments;
  • Undertaking any other Secretarial duties that may be assigned.
An officer at this level will be required to work for more than one officer at the divisions/sections.

Requirements for Appointment
  • Have served as a Secretary for a period of three (3) years in addition to being in possession of the following qualifications from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC):-
  1. Typewriting III (50 w.p.m.)/Computerized document processing III.
  2. Shorthand III (100 w.p.m.)
  3. Business English III/Communication II.
  4. Secretarial duties II.
  5. Commerce II.
  6. Office Management III/Office Administration and Management III
OR
  1. A Diploma/Higher Diploma in Secretarial studies from Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution and
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
8. Personal Secretary I

An officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:-

  • Attending to visitors/clients;
  • Handling telephone calls and appointments;
  • Ensuring security of office records, equipment and documents including classified materials;
  • Preparing responses to simple routine correspondence;
An officer at this level may be required to work for more than one officer.

Requirements for Appointment
  • Served as a Personal Secretary II or Senior Secretarial Assistant or any other similar or comparable position in a reputable or related organization for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • A Bachelors degree in Secretarial Studies or a Bachelor of Business and Office Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
OR
  • The following qualifications from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC):-
  1. Shorthand III (100 w.p.m.);
  2. Typewriting III (50 w.p.m.)/Computerized document Processing III;
  3. Business English III/Communication II;
  4. Commerce II;
  5. Office Management III/Office Administration and Management III
  6. Secretarial Duties II.
OR
  1. A Diploma/Higher Diploma in Secretarial studies from Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; and
  • A Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
9. Accountant I

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this grade will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Management accounting;
  • Preparation of final accounts and statements;
  • Preparation of budget;
  • Tax collection and remissions;
  • Credit control;
  • Cash flow management;
  • Financial analysis.
Requirements for Appointment
  • A Bachelors degree in Commerce (Accounting, Finance Option) or Business Administration (Accounting, Finance Option);
  • Served at the grade of Accountant II or its equivalent in a reputable organization, for a minimum period of 3 years;
  • Passed Part II (Final) of CPA examinations or any other recognised professional accountancy qualification;
  • Competence in computer accounting packages;
  • Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.
