Director, Programme Office Performance and Development Africa/Madagascar Job Vacancy: WWF

Want to ensure high performing Programme Offices (POs) on issues and in places that are KEY for WWF’s global conservation strategy and business plan?

We’re looking for a Director, Programme Office Performance and Development Africa/Madagascar to build strong Programme offices through organizational development initiatives.

Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Major Functions:
  • Provides advice and guidance to Africa Madagascar Programme (AMP) POs on general operational and management issues
  • Provides effective leadership and line management to the Nairobi based Programme Office Management (POM) team
  • Identifies and coordinates training and capacity building needs in POs and works with the home office and WWF Network to address them effectively
  • Ensure that all POs in the region have sound strategic plans in place.
Required Qualifications
  • Higher level degree in international business or finance, e.g., MBA
  • At least 5 years management experience, with a proven track record in leading multi-cultural teams
  • Broad knowledge of operational issues and performance management, including the development and implementation of successful Business Plans
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs, especially in developing countries would be an advantage
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact with and influence senior management staff in POs and relevant staff in different functional areas in a positive manner
  • Highly analytical and strategic with the ability to see the big picture and context
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French
  • Experience and a good understanding of operating in different cultural environment and managing remote teams
  • Proficiency in the use of computer office applications – word processing, spread sheet and presentation
  • Ability to drive change and high performance
  • Decisive, proactive, and an excellent communicator
  • Available to travel extensively
  • Passion and commitment for conservation and sustainable development
