Business Development Officer NGO Job Vacancy Re-Advertisement

Our Client is a local faith based Non Governmental Organization with operations around Kajiado North area in the suburbs of Nairobi.

The thematic area of focus is HIV/AIDS with a bias towards supporting women and children.

Business Development Officer

The individual is responsible for creating and implementing the business strategy for the institution, developing and implementing business plans and ensuring that agreed targets are realized.

Also responsible for coordinating research, marketing studies, product development and sales within the institution.

The individual facilitates the business development process and provides the over the overall coordination of the business projects within the organization.

The position is also responsible for the overall coordination of the institutional strategic planning process, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead the business development of existing projects, departments and any new units
  • Provide oversight to the projects of the organization
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of policies for projects
  • Facilitate the development of the overall strategic plan, annual operational plans and the business plans for the projects and business departments
  • Ensure that the business departments operate within the legal and statutory requirements and policy guidelines
  • Ensure that the projects and business departments develop into centres of excellence in their respective service provision areas.
  • Development of marketing and pricing strategy for the products and services of the centre and gift shop.
  • Determine the demand for product/ services offered by the centre and our competitors
  • Building of relationships with clients and managing and motivating the sales executives.
  • Identification of potential target groups and markets
  • Develop effective publicity programs; and manage and handle special events e.g. sponsorships/ parties/ product launches etc
  • Develop marketing proposals
  • Assign sales territories/ goals and advise sales team on ways to improve performance
  • Maintain contact with key clients/partners/donors and collaborating agencies
  • Undertake periodic evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the projects
  • Manage staff within the department under them
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Must be a born again practicing Christian
  • Has at least a Bachelor’s degree in management /BCom-Marketing/ or related business field.
  • Diploma in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications
  • Has at least three (3) years experience in a similar position.
  • Possess working knowledge of computer application packages
Competencies:
  • High level of integrity and good interpersonal skills
  • Should possess strong communication & analytical skills.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be diligent, honest and responsible with strong leadership skills.
  • Able to be fair and firm with the supervised staff.
  • Self drive and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Must possess strong analytical, report writing, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to put the Staff/Organizational team above self
  • Ability to work well in a team requiring diverse skill levels.
  • Demonstrate good report writing and communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Ability to coordinate different departmental requests for catering/housekeeping services and work with strict deadlines sometimes responding to unplanned orders.
  • Ability to translate orders or requests and specifications into quality services and products.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Good sales, marketing, public relation and customer care skills
  • Be organized and good planner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
Remuneration: Basic: KES 25,000/= to 30,000/= plus commission
