Business Controller Job Vacancy: Three Green Apples Consulting

Our client, a leading multinational operating in the region is looking to fill the position of Business Controller.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the purpose of this job is to manage costs thus contributing to the competitive supply of products.

This position is also responsible for timely and accurate reporting to enable effective decision making in response to the constantly evolving market place.

The other scope dimension relates to general company administration matters, in liaison with the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities in this role include:
  • Overall responsibility for annual budgets, and forecasts in coordination with other heads of departments and in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer. Liaising with corporate office on deadlines, key assumptions, and other deliverables, as well as negotiating/defending budget on behalf of the business with the support of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Assisting the Chief Operating Officer in identifying and pushing the expedient implementation of company priorities in line with group strategy plans.
  • In charge of all company reports and collation of pertinent explanations for variances from expectations. Constant re-forecasting and re alignment of activities in conjunction with the various heads to ensure performance objectives delivery.
  • In liaison with the Chief Operating Officer, understanding of risks, development, and implementation of mitigating controls as well as performing test checks on business continuity plans to ensure minimal business disruptions if/when they occur.
  • Overall responsibility on stocks management via the purchasing and stock control functions, and coordination with all heads of departments. Supervision of the stock controller with the view of ensuring optimal stock holding, and ensuring implementation of best practice controls.
  • In liaison with group procurement, oversee the management of purchasing in the business, covering local and overseas procurement, and ensuring that best practices are adhered to.
  • In liaison with group information systems management, supervision of the business information systems, supporting of group IT initiatives/implementation, supervision of business help desk, via the business systems administrator, and other routine tasks such as back ups, etc.
  • Application business owner for SAP system. This is a group function and entails: - ensuring system security; coordination of end user training and documentation; process owner and user group participation; process enhancements; set up and testing; and system and data integrity.
  • Overall responsibility for accounting in the business. This entails timely supplier payments, supplier statements reconciliation’s to business accounts, stocks reconciliation’s, petty cash management, review of accounting entries and approving/passing adjustments as appropriate, approving payroll entries, supporting heads of department on accounting and management tools and systems such as SAP, and Planning tool. Chairing of monthly meetings to coordinate end of month closing and stock reconciliation’s/adjustments. This role serves as the liaison function for auditors, external and internal, as well as general control practices-implementation, etc.
Minimum Requirements:

The incumbent must possess the following minimum qualifications and competencies:
  • A graduate with a professional qualification, either ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • 6 years work experience in a busy and professional environment, preferably in a finance or audit function. At least two years should be served in a managerial role.
  • Excellent understanding and application of management information systems with working experience with ERPs (Enterprise Resource Applications) e.g. JDE, SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good people management skills and interpersonal skills with strong leadership potential
  • Highly developed analytical, organisations and planning skills
  • Highly motivated, dynamic, self-driven with ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work and communicate in a culturally diverse environment
