In line with our business growth and development strategy, we are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and results oriented individual to fill the position of General Manager – Business Development. The position is based in Nairobi, and reports to the Managing Director, Kenya, with a matrix reporting relationship to the Regional Business Development Manager, based in South Africa. Position Purpose:-

The position is responsible for development of new and maximizing existing lines of business, coordinating, communicating and controlling of product development /management/distribution and implementation of the necessary Business Development infrastructure and operational best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a strong company brand and benchmark in the market by pro-actively sourcing, identifying and managing business from new and existing business distribution channels.
• Identify new product opportunities trough research and development, and continuously evaluate existing products for market fit and re-positioning.
• Responsible for developing annual business development budgets and business plans, and ensuring their full implementation
• Champion identification of new business opportunities and partner with the relevant departments to implement the same.
• Develop long term relationships with new and existing clients and maintaining them for future upsells and cross-sells
• Continuously monitor distribution channels service levels, to ensure they are in tandem with the company’s distribution standards
• Develop strategies to ensure that we explore, identify and exploit available alternate business distribution channels in the country/region.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:-
• Relevant business degree from a recognized university.
• Strong business acumen
• Insurance industry knowledge & experience and ACII qualifications is an added advantage
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• At least 7 years relevant senior managerial experience in a similar position
• Hands on marketing, sales and distribution experience.

The ideal candidate should have proven negotiation, presentation, motivation, relationship building, customer service, communications, analytical, report writing and interpersonal skills.
