University of Nairobi Vacancies

Applications are invited for the following positions:

Senior Lecturer
Department of Agricultural Economics, College Of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences - AC/02/23/09 - (R&T) (One Post)

Applicants should be holders of a Ph.D degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural and Environmental Economics or closely related field specialization.

Applicants should have a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, three of which must be at lecturer level. They should have supervised at least three (3) masters' students to completion.

Applicants should have experience in research as evidenced by publications in refereed journals. A minimum of four (4) publications in refereed journals, or two (2) publications and two (2) chapters in scholarly books since the last promotion.

The successful candidate will be required to teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate 'students. They will also be expected to initiate and conduct research in their areas of specialization. (Please note closing dates for this post is February 13, 2009)

Lecturer
Department of Civil and Construction Engineering, College of Architecture and Engineering - AC/02/24/09 - (CAE) (Two Posts)

Applicant should be holders of Ph.D degree in Civil and Construction Engineering.

Those with Masters degree and a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience at university will be considered. Applicants should in addition have a minimum of two (2) publications in referred journals or two (2) chapters in scholarly books since last promotion and show evidence of continued research activity.

Specialization in Highways and Transportation engineering will be an added advantage. The successful candidate will be required to teach, supervise and mentor both undergraduate and postgraduate students and also conduct and supervise research in their relevant field.

Lecturer
Unit of Immunology, Department of Human Pathology, College of Health Sciences - AC/02/25/09 - (CHS) (Three Posts)

Applicants should be holders of a degree in any medical sciences with MSc or Ph.D in Immunology/ Molecular Medicine, or BSc with a Ph.D in Immunology or Molecular Biology, with three (3) years teaching experience at university level.

Preferred candidates will have training and experience in core Immunology and must have excellent Communication Skills, ability to plan and organize effectively and willing to take over additional responsibilities.

Applicants should in addition have minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2) chapters in scholarly book since the last promotion and show evidence of continuing research activity.

Tutorial Fellow
Physiology Section, Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences - AC/02/26/09 - (CAVS) (Three Posts)

Applicants should be holders of a good Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine degree. They are expected to have registered for a Master of Science degree in animal Physiology and registrable by Kenya Veterinary Board. The successful candidate will be required to participate in teaching undergraduate students, conducting practical as well as do research.

Tutorial Fellows
Anatomy Section, Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences - AC/02/27/09 - (CAVS) (Three Posts)

Applicants should be holders of a good Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

They are expected to have registered for a master of science degree in Veterinary Anatomy and registrable by Kenya Veterinary Board. The successful candidate will be required to participate in teaching undergraduate students, conducting practicals as well as do research.

Assistant Transport Officer
Grade CD, Transport and Garage Section - AD/02/39/09-(R&T) (One Post)

Applicants must have KCSE mean grade C or its equivalent. They should in addition have Higher Diploma in Transport Management and three years relevant experience at the level of Transport Assistant Grade A/B.

Mortuary Technologist
Grade ABC, Anatomic Pathology Unit, Department of Human Pathology, College of Health Sciences, AD/02/40/09 - (CHS) (ONE POST)

Applicants must have KCSE Grade C or equivalent with credits in English, Mathematics, Biology and Physical Sciences. In addition, they should have Ordinary Diploma or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology covering Histology, Immunology, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion and Microbiology.

They should have at least three (3) years experience and be conversant with quality management in a mortuary set-up. They should be computer literate. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in preparation of practicals for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

NOTE:

  1. Applicants for Academic posts (AC) should forward ten (10) copies of their application letters accompanied by a similar number of certified copies of certificates and C.V.s giving details of their qualifications, experience, research activities and publications and the journals the publications appear in. They should, in addition, give names and addresses of three (3) academic referees and the current designations of the referees. They must request their referees to forward their reports directly to the respective Colleges as indicated in the codes hereunder or to the Deputy Registrar (R&T) in instances where the posts are of Senior Lecturer level and above.
  2. Applicants for non-academic posts (AD) should submit seven (7) copies of their application letters accompanied by detailed C.V.s and similar number of certified copies of certificates.
  3. In both cases, applications and related documents should be forwarded through the applicants' respective heads of departments and applicants should state their current designations and salaries and other benefits attached to those designations supported by seven copies of their letters of appointment to their current grades. They should quote post reference codes as shown for each posts in the advertisement.
