FilmAid International (FilmAid) invites applications from qualified Kenyans to fill the above position. FilmAid International is a non-governmental organization that uses film to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted.
FilmAid is currently implementing programmes in Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps in Kenya.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
a) Purpose and Objectives
The overall objective is to conduct a baseline survey in the Dadaab refugee camps to document the knowledge, attitudes and practices around HIV/AIDS related issues (PMTCT, VCT and Abstinence among youth) and make recommendations on the best strategies to implementing the project.
b) The main tasks of the baseline survey is to:
- Review the project proposal submitted to donors (PEPFAR, UNHCR)
- Review various partner reports and assessments in Dadaab with emphasis on PMTCT, VCT and Abstinence issues covered in the reports
- Collect and review Government reports (especially from the Public Health Department in Garissa, picking out HIV and related health issues touching on Dadaab)
- Undertake a beneficiary assessment to document knowledge, attitude and practice around HIV issues (knowledge on PMTCT, VCT uptake and abstinence)
- Document findings of the survey with a focus on knowledge, attitudes and practices
- Make recommendations on the best strategies to implementing the project
- Hold a feedback session with FilmAid to share survey results
- Based on the terms of reference for the consultancy, the specific objectives for the consultancy are as follows:
- To review the existing documents (project design, partner reports and Government reports)
- To develop and improve on the tools for collection of data on the knowledge, attitude and practices of the study population on HIV and HIV related issues
- To assess and document the beneficiaries knowledge, attitude and practice on Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), uptake of Voluntary Counseling and Testing services (VCT) especially by the youth, and Abstinence among the youth.
- To make recommendations to the project management on the best strategies to implementing the project
- Consultant must have a post graduate degree in social sciences
- Consultant must possess demonstrable research design skills, as well as knowledge of analytical and statistical programs
- Must have knowledge and experience in HIV and Aids programs (including PMTCT and VCT uptake)
- Consultant must have at least 3 years experience in research design and research. A copy of the latest survey consultancy report and references to be provided. Experience in HIV and Aids survey is desirable
- Consultant must be Kenyan
- Familiarity with Somali language and culture will be an added advantage
