Project Officer – West Pokot

Position: Project Officer – West Pokot

CWS-FilmAid International (FilmAid) invites applications from qualified Kenyans to fill the above position. The position is based in Chaperaria Division in West Pokot.

FilmAid International is a non-governmental organization that uses film to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted. FilmAid is currently implementing a short term project with Doctors of the World (DOW) in West Pokot, creating educational films on pre and post natal health issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To ensure timely, quality and coordinated implementation of activities in the field.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and logistics.
  • Ensure a community based approach and a participatory methodology in all activities.
  • Coordinate meetings with various sections of the community and work closely with DOW staff and community members to identify key issues to be addressed in the films.
  • Provide relevant support to Film producers in the field including organizing shoot locations, coordinating actors’ selections and rehearsals and all necessary logistics
  • Draft field activities reports

Required qualifications and experience

  1. Be of Kenyan nationality
  2. Hold a degree (or higher Diploma) in social sciences or any discipline that focuses on community media, communication for development or behavior change communications
  3. Minimum 3 years Experience in community outreach work (experience in community media an added advantage) or other community media, mobilization and outreach as well as facilitation and basic program administration/management
  4. Knowledge of Pokot language and culture essential
  5. Should be ideally be residing in the West Pokot region
  6. Must be computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Office packages as well as editing
  7. Ability to work with minimum supervision
  8. Committed to Humanitarian principles and action
