The International Committee for the Development of People (CISP) is an Italian Non – Governmental Organization implementing the project “Fighting against poverty through income generation, enterprise development and microfinance for poor households”.
The project aims at alleviating the economic impact of poor households in Malindi and Nairobi, strengthening their capacities to start up and develop economic activities at individual and group level. CISP is, therefore, looking for 1 suitably qualified and experienced person to work in Nairobi as Community Development Worker
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Country Representative, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Identify and assess existing groups running common projects
- Assure technical assistance in the establishment of Savings and Loan Circles
- Plan, organize and facilitate SLC training
- Follow up and monitor the progress of the implemented activities ensuring technical assistance, advise and counselling to the project beneficiaries
- Develop relations with key Authorities and local strategic stakeholders
- Attend meetings, organise field visits and prepare and submit technical and financial reports as required;
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma in Economics or Community development
- At least 3 years professional experience with community development programs, especially in the poor settings of Nairobi
- In-depth knowledge of community based savings and loans system
- Previous experience of working with NGOs would be advantageous
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in English and Kiswahili
- Strong interpersonal and team player skills
- Ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to conduct training and disseminate knowledge and information targeted at a variety of stakeholders
- Conversant with computer packages especially Word and Excel
