Real People Job Vacancy: Operational Manager

Sector: Financial & Educational Institution

We are a rapidly growing Financial & Educational Institution with over 150 retail branches over Sub – Saharan Africa, looking for a Dynamic & Energetic Operational Manager – Education in Eastern Africa to be based in Nairobi.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Degree / Diploma in Finance or Business Management related, will be required.
  • Post Graduate Degree/Diploma qualifications will be preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years working experience in an Educational Institution like a University, College or Technikon.
Knowledge / Skill Requirements:
  • Must be a motivated individual with the hunger to succeed and the will to constantly improve skills levels.
  • Must be fluent in oral and written English & Kiswahili.
  • Must have confidence and skills to present the company at various levels.
  • Good knowledge of finance, business management & sales techniques are recommendable to be able to assist staff in the sales environment.
  • Good knowledge of the Education environment in Eastern Africa, including relevant laws, regulations, qualification frameworks and skills development legislation, schools system and schools and colleges acts.
  • Working relationships with key roll players in the Education environment, including the relevant government departments, schools, colleges, universities, syllabus and subject matter experts.
  • Must have excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good problem solving and analysis ability.
  • Must have an excellent clean working record.
  • Must be willing to travel.
Function and Responsibilities:
  • To drive sales and enrollments for the various product ranges.
  • Manage the day to day running of the business.
  • Manage, motivate and lead functional support staff in the unit in areas of Client Service Delivery, Logistics, Sales and Admin.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders on various aspects of the business.
  • Reporting on a regular basis to senior management on key operational and performance indicators.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of operational objectives, in line with the strategy, for the divisions with the assistance of the divisional managers.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the Education environment
  • Drive and assist with the expansion of the Education business into new territories and facilitate the setting up of operations within new countries.
  • Ensuring that all business policies and rules are adhered to and recommend changes where necessary.
  • Develop and implement business projects in line with achieving the businesses strategic.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
  • Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission - specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
Salary: Negotiable Basic Salary + Incentives based on performance.
