INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (1 position)


Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall management and administrative leadership of the Information and Knowledge Manager the incumbent will perform the following functions:
• Using creativity to innovate new products (widgets, wizards, tools, controls) to enhance Web user experience Work closely with team members to deliver improvements to our web site,
intranet systems.
• Website and Email server administration and keeping up with new Internet standards and Web technologies
• Perform server administration and maintenance duties (e.g. system log, backup schedules, user accounts, etc.)
• Provide administrative support to the Organization’s Servers including PABX and Pastel Accounting system.
• Provide technical support and maintenance of computer systems and routine backups.
• Provide support on disaster recovery through trouble shooting of software and hardware problems.
• Identify and bridge the gaps in all computer systems by continuously analyzing the systems in response to Information Communication Technology changes.
• Liaise with the user departments in identifying, developing and implementing new systems to respond to changes. This includes working with E-learning training and Marketing teams
on innovative IT requirements and solutions
• Develop innovative strategies to mobilize resources for the IT department.
• Train users on new systems and software applications.
• Provide regular support and update new RATN website.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates should meet the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or an equivalent combination in education and work experience.
• At least three (3) years’ working experience on Linux, Windows 2008 and Windows XP Operating System.
• Sound working knowledge of Internet/Intranet technologies including security features, remote access technology and network infrastructure and operations.
• Professional qualifications in Hardware maintenance, Networking and Systems Administration.
• Microsoft certifications preferred: MCSE and up.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization
• A positive attitude and superior work ethic

Selection Criteria
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
• Extent of familiarity with and experience in building data driven Web applications using the PHP and MySQL framework with several successful public deployment.
• Extent of familiarity with ICT based approaches to knowledge exchange and information management by the HIV and AIDS stakeholders in the ESA region
• Extent of familiarity and innovativeness with working with multiple stakeholders and varied information needs and approaches for knowledge and information management,
including using ICT
• Extent of both oral and written communication skills and time management skills
• Extent of analytical abilities, technical aptitude and proven ability to solve problems
• Extent of abilities to work in a quick paced, evolving environment
