FilmAid International (FilmAid) Jobs: Project Intern – Dadaab Refugee Camp

Position: Project Intern – Dadaab Refugee Camp

FilmAid International (FilmAid) invites applications from qualified Kenyans to fill the above position. The position, based in Dadaab, will report to the Dadaab Program Manager.

FilmAid International is a non-governmental organization that uses film to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted. FilmAid is currently implementing programmes in Dadaab and Dadaab refugee camps in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To work closely with the Project Manager, and in a participatory manner with all staff members and program partners in implementing FilmAid’s field programmes.
  • Participate in the drafting of annual work plans and specific information dissemination work plans for Dadaab.
  • The Intern will assist in researching foundations and grants for possible donors, in the effort to fundraise and develop grant proposals
  • Drafting and editing program reports.
  • Work with the field staff in keeping accurate statistics of daytime and evening screening attendances, maintaining a database of the same as well as a photo gallery of daytime and evening screenings and any other project activities photos.
  • Monitor and collect feedback on production and dissemination activities
  • Support collaboration with other agencies and attend inter – inter agency meetings and activities
  • Sorting info out into topical info and ensuring that the files are kept in good order
  • The Intern will assist in researching relevant issues including but not limited to best practices, rapid needs assessment, monitoring and evaluation tools, and participatory approaches/methodologies in humanitarian activities.
  • Researching for new content based on identified needs.
  • Pre-screening new content acquired
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Be familiar with both FilmAid and the Kenya Codes of conduct
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Be of Kenyan nationality
  • Current student or graduate in community development, community media, communication for development or behavior change
  • Experience and interest in community video or other community media, mobilization and outreach as well as facilitation
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Internet research skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili is essential
  • Should be culturally sensitive and able to work with diverse cultures
  • Must be computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Office packages as well as editing software, (experience in Final Cut Pro an added advantage)
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Committed to Humanitarian principles and action
  • Video facilitation skills an added advantage
