Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) : Director

Kenya National Library Service is an ISO 9001:2008 certified State Corporation under the Ministry of State for National Heritage and Culture.

Its mandate is to promote, establish, manage, maintain and develop libraries in Kenya as a National Library among other functions.

To achieve its mandate the KNLS Board seeks to recruit a Director on a 3 year renewable
contract.

The duties of the Director include:

• Be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya National Library Service.
• Provide leadership in the development and strengthening of a nation-wide network of library system.
• Establish and maintain collaboration with key local and international partners.
  
• To implement all Board policies and decisions and be a link between the Board and its employees.
• Be a link between the board and its employees.
  
• Control the Board's financial affairs and maintain an efficient and effective liaison with all Government departments and other agencies.
  
• Direct and coordinate research activities of KNLS and its services.
  
• Serve as the Board's Secretary.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least a Masters Degree in Library/Information Science or a Masters degree with Post
• Graduate qualification in Library/Information Science
  
• He/She should have 5 years experience at senior management position in a medium to large organization
  
• Experience in a medium to large library system will be an added advantage
