The Netherlands Catholic Organization for Relief and Development Aid (Cordaid) is an international NGO that supports development and relief activities in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe.

The South Sudan Office of Cordaid in Nyamlell (Aweil West County – Northern Bar el Ghazal State – South Sudan) is active in the sectors Food, Health, Water and Sanitation, and is looking for an

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT / CASHIER

The Administrative Assistant / Cashier will work in close collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and the Administrator, as well as other Programme staff. The work station is in Nyamlell, where Cordaid has a Compound. Accommodation and meals are provided to the (non-Sudanese) staff.

Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

As Administrative Assistant: (employment) contracts; HR related work (maintaining personnel files, keeping track of contract extensions, leave days, R&R requests, etc.); documentation of files; keeping records of orders; booking flights; taking minutes of meetings; general correspondence; preparation of the monthly pay-rolls.

As Cashier: check invoices, and handle the cash payments (after approval).

We invite candidates who hold the qualifications indicated below:

  • Diploma/degree in business administration and/or secretarial practice and/or human resource management;
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, e-mails, database);
  • Good knowledge of the English language;
  • Able to write reports and to take minutes of meetings accurately;
  • At least three years experience in working with international NGOs;
  • Some experience in development projects;
  • Proven ability to communicate at professional level and to work within a team;
  • Able to handle, report, and liquidate small cash;
  • Pro-active; able to work under stress and in difficult circumstances; capable of organizing his/her own work.
  • Knowledge of development issues in South Sudan will be an asset, as will be some knowledge of Dinka, Luo and/or Arabic languages.
