Our client, a leading telecommunications company with operations worldwide, is recruiting a Supply Chain Director to offer technical and managerial leadership in the supply chain department. Reporting to the Managing Director, the main role of this position is to ensure compliance and the implementation and maintenance of Supply Chain policies and procedures in procurement, logistics, inventory and warehousing, Real Estate and Facilities Management in minimising costs. The position will play a key role in maintaining relationships with external suppliers and for negotiating major contracts as well as coordinating key activities and major projects with general management and managers from other departments.
The key responsibilities for this position will include;
- Steering and contributing to the formulation and review of the OPCO strategy and ensures that all Supply Chain policies and procedures are sound and drive the performance of the OPCO.
- Ensuring effective implementation and maintenance of Supply Chain policies and procedures in the OPCO:
- Implementing the procurement and logistic strategies to achieve target in cost reduction, growth, organizational development, effective supplier base, etc.
- Managing Supply and Administration departments for efficient provision of services in cost effective manner
- Ensuring suppliers meet all the organization’s standards/expectations in term of product quality/integrity, regulatory standards, etc.
- Communicating and enforces procurement, supply/ logistics and Administration policies
- Ensuring proper and efficient communications between Supply Chain and the other departments:
- Ensuring that cost and pricing information is maintained and communicated accurately and in a timely manner
- Working with general management and managers from other teams, to provide efficient Supply chain support in all areas.
- Working with and supports management to ensure contracts and vendors are being managed in accordance with company guidelines
- Acting as a central point of contact with respect to procurement, supply/logistics and administration issues
- Organizing and managing the solicitation, negotiation, construction of procurement agreements as well as market evaluation for goods and services that will assist the organization in achieving its revenue and profit commitments.
- Managing the Supply Chain department by overseeing activities of staff by hiring, coaching, appraising, rewarding, motivating, disciplining and recommending termination of contracts as necessary
- Working through managers in setting standards, priorities, and schedules
The ideal candidate for this position must demonstrate practical and excellent understanding of principle of contract law, the uniform commercial code and a complete understanding of standard corporate terms and conditions. S/he must have expert knowledge and an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness. The candidate must have the ability to steer and champion the development of highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts as may be necessitated by the business demands.
The specific Qualifications for this position include; Competencies:
- 10+ years with University Degree in business or related field; out of which at least 7+ years leadership experience in a similar position required
- MCIPS qualifications is desirable
- Proven ability to analyse complex business issues and identify, design and implement effective practical recommendations
- Conversant with basic computer office packages
- In addition, the candidate must;
- Be able to operate in a performance driven organization
- Be business and culturally aware and adept at working across multiple geographies
- Fluent in English
- Possess strong analytical, problem solving, planning and negotiating skills
- Possess high personal standards and goal orientation
- Of excellent interpersonal, communications skills, both orally and in writing
- Strong coaching skills
