HEAD OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS AND PR


Our client, a leading telecommunications company with operations worldwide and headquartered in Nairobi is seeking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated Head of Corporate Communications and PR. Reporting to the Managing Director, the job holder will direct the company’s internal and external communications including presentations and written communications which inform relevant stakeholders, media representatives and the public about the company. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing communication policies and programs that support the organization’s overall strategic direction, resource allocation and that will include budget and personnel.
The main responsibilities of the candidate will be to:
  • Contribute to the formulation of the OPCO strategy and ensures that all Communication policies and programmes support the organization’s overall strategic direction
  • Direct the development and implementation of the company's external communications programs
  • Ensure that the PR agency and all media houses that do business with the organization are managed in a manner that is beneficial and that a cordial relationship is maintained with such entities at all times.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization
  • Monitor the organization’s public image, highlight problems areas and recommend remedial actions as appropriate
  • Manage the Corporate Communications Function
The candidate should also exhibit an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness and should lead the development of highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts. They should guides and transfer knowledge to her/his team.
Minimum Requirements:
    • 10+ years with University Degree in business, communications or journalism; out of which at least 7+  years leadership experience
    • The ability to build and sustain positive business relationships internally and externally
    • Proven ability to analyse complex business issues and identify, design and implement effective practical recommendations
    • Able to operate in a performance driven organization
    • Culturally aware and adept at working across multiple geographies
    • Fluency in English
