VACANCIES AT CHAS


The Christian Health Association of Sudan (CHAS) is a registered Sudanese NGO operating under the auspices of the Sudan Council of Churches (SCC). CHAS’ mission is to build the capacity of member organizations/groups with a vision of creating a health service that is accessible, affordable, and equitable, of high quality and is sustainable for the whole of Sudan. CHAS’ mandate is translated into four (4) strategic focus areas namely: i) Institutional Capacity Strengthening for CHAS members; ii) Human resource development for health; iii) Expansion of coverage and scale-up priority health interventions; iv) Advocacy and private/public partnerships. As an emergent institution CHAS also has organizational strategic areas of focus for strengthening its capacity. These are: i) CHAS sustainability; ii) CHAS regionalization; iii) CHAS policy development; iv) CHAS systems development; and v). CHAS resource mobilization 
The Government of Southern Sudan has signed an agreement with the World Bank and other donors to implement the Southern Sudan HIV/AIDS Project and CHAS is the lead Agency for this project. CHAS is looking for suitable candidates, with a preference for Sudanese nationals with the following minimum qualifications, to fill the following key positions:
  1. Administration and logistical specialist:
 
    1. A recognized degree in Management, Business, or a related discipline;
    2. A minimum 5 years of overall project management experience in developing countries, preferably in the health sector;
    3. At least 3 years of experience in a position with responsibility for preparing procurement plans and organizing procurement systems (ideally using World Bank procedures) for works, goods, and services; and
    4. proven ability to organize supply and distribution systems and find innovative solutions to complex problems under difficult conditions.
 
  1. Accountant/Financial management specialist:
 
    1. A recognized degree in accounting, economics or a related discipline, and preferably professional accounting qualifications (CPA, ACCA, ACA, etc.);
    2. A minimum of 5 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a developing country, ideally in a project related setting;
    3. Experience with World Bank financial management procedures (accounting and reporting formats, withdrawal applications, external audits, etc.) is desirable; and
    4. Proven ability to ensure the continuous availability of funds, to control the disbursement of these funds, and to properly establish recognized procedures to account for their use.
 
All the above positions will be on one year contract and based in South Sudan. A commensurate remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidates.
