The Tanzania Cotton Board came into operation in July 2004 as a Regulatory and Promotion Institution established under the Cotton Industry Act, No.2 of 2001. The main responsibilities of Tanzania Cotton Board as provided under this statute include: -
(i) to advise the government on the policies, strategies and all other matters relating to the development of the cotton industry;
(ii) to promote and regulate the quality, marketing and export of cotton;
(iii) to make regulations for cultivation, marketing, processing, importation, exportation and storage of seed cotton and cotton lint; and
(iv) to establish quality standards for cotton seed, seed cotton and cotton lint and to ensure the compliance of such standards by persons licensed by the Board.
The Board wishes to recruit a competent and experienced person for employment in the capacity of Director of Finance & Administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) is the chief advisor to the Director General on matters pertal'ning to financial, administrative and human resources functions;
(ii) ensures financial functions of the Board are carried out correctly and in accordance with the rules and regulations laid down by National Board of Accountants and Auditors and within the ruling legal framework;
(iii) ensures that the standard of book-keeping and accounting is high and able to give the Board a clean external auditors certificate every year;
(iv) responsible for the efficient and effective utilisation of all staff;
(v) responsible for the care and effective use of all assets;
(vi) responsible for control of expenditure in line with approved budget; and
(vii) supervises all administrative and human resources functions.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Masters Degree in Business Administration/ Economics and/ or Professional accounting qualification e.g. CPA, ACCA, ACA.
Must be registered by National Board of Accountants and Auditors as an Authorised Accountan.t Must have an experience of not less than 5 years in the accounting field and senior managerial position.
Should be computer literate
Not less than 35 years of age.
