Housing Finance (HF), Kenya’s largest and leading mortgage company with country wide operations has an exciting opportunity for an individual with a commitment to performance excellence to fill the position of a Valuer.
Reporting to the Projects Credit Manager the main purpose for the role will be to provide valuation advisory services to the company and co-ordinate with external valuers to ensure valuation reports are prepared as per Institute of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), International Valuation Standards (IVS) and company guidelines.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Provide valuation advisory services to the company units.
- Guide the business to ensure lending is based on quality securities.
- Coordinate the work of external valuers to ensure that all valuation and reports carried out by the external valuers always meet the ISK, IVS standards and also comply with set company guidelines.
- Assist with reviewing and vetting external valuers to ensure they meet the minimum company accepted standards.
- Assessing values of individual residential units and multiple or developmental schemes and advising on the reliability of the values against borrowed loan amounts.
- Prepare and produce monthly technical and progress reports on valuations services.
- Review and produce economic, political and sector analysis reports as it relates to valuations
- Develop and maintain appropriate database on borrowers, investors, governments, institutions and other collaborating agencies, which will assist in the efficient management of the company’s valuation services and other related activities.
- Update asset values as agreed upon and as per set company guidelines.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the professionals involved in the valuations and other team members(s)
Education, Experience, Skills and Attributes:
- A first degree in Land Economics and a post graduate Diploma from ISK;
- Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in a similar or equivalent position in the public and/or private sector;
- Be a registered Valuer and a full member of ISK;
- Must have excellent word processing, spreadsheet and data management skills;
- Must have good project management , project appraisal skills including a thorough understanding of technical issues such as project costs, project cash flows and risk analysis ;
- Good analytical and quantitative skills;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Must have good planning and organizational skills;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Good report writing skills.
