Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Regional Office in Nairobi Jobs in Kenya

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Regional Office in Nairobi invites applications for the following positions:

1. Programme Manager

This is a new position for DRC's new Great Lakes Regional Refugee/IDP Rights Programme.

The objectives of the programme are to enhance peace and security in the Great Lakes region by strengthening the protection of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other displaced populations' human rights through:

i) capacity building of national NGOs working with displacement issues and

ii) enhancing refugees', IDPs and other displaced groups' rights by linking national NGOs to the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region and other regional institutions.

The Programme Manager (PM) is responsible for the overall management and implementation and further development of the programme.

In addition, the Programme Manager is responsible for facilitating active relations with programme partners; relevant government entities and to link up with DRC's Country Offices in relevant countries.

The position is based in Nairobi, but the PM is expected to spend up to 50-70% of the time traveling in programme countries.

2. Regional Advisor (Migration and Protection)

The Regional Advisor (Migration and Protection) is an advisory position in support of DRC protection and advocacy work within the Horn of Africa & Yemen region.

The position has two inter-linked clusters of responsibility:
  • Ensure regional coordination and provide strategic leadership of DRC's emerging approach to mixed migration in the region;
  • provide operational and programme development support to field offices on mixed migration issues and initiate and oversee relevant fundraising initiatives.
  • Support the strengthening of DRC's capacity and profile as a right based, protection agency and provide direct, operational support to DRC protection initiatives.
The position is based in Nairobi but involves extensive consultation and engagement with DRC's programme managers and field staff.
