Social Justice Project Senior Governance Advisor: GTZ Jobs in Kenya

In close cooperation with the relevant partners in the Government of Kenya GTZ seeks to recruit a Senior Governance Advisor to support the implementation of Agenda item IV of the National Accord and Reconciliation Act 2008 and to foster the role, mandate and objectives of critical stakeholders working towards enhancing national cohesion,
integration and reconciliation.

Under the overall supervision of the Project Leader, the Senior Governance Advisor will assist in the overall management and implementation of strategic plans, budgets, policies and procedures of the project and liaise with relevant partners in and outside government, but with emphasis on cooperation with non-state actors.

Overall Responsibility:
  • Cooperation and liaison activities with relevant development partners in the areas of governance generally, human rights, social justice and integration efforts contributing to the realization of key outcomes of the project.
  • Develop comprehensive and well thought through strategic plans for engagement with the three key commissions and NSA’s in the core fields of project objectives.
  • Identify, screen and appraise suitable projects and partnership on their compliance with funding criteria submitted by any partners and NSA’s and provide technical advice in regard to project and financial procedures.
  • Follow up on funded initiatives of the major commissions and relevant funded partners while advising on proper implementation and achieving results.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of funded projects in close consultation with project partners and the Team Leader.
  • Receiving and analyzing narrative and financial reports of the funded initiatives in accordance with the project agreed procedures.
  • Coordination of the working arrangement and modalities of the three key commissions and other stakeholders through a well coordinated and acceptable methodology.
  • Advise and keep up-dated the Project Team Leader on any new developments and progress in the issues of social justice and human rights in Kenya.
Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate degree in political science, law, international relations, public administration or any relevant field.
  • Excellent mastery of governance, human rights and social justice issues in Kenya.
  • Extensive experience in policy development and best practices in governance, human rights and social justice practices.
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder coordination.
  • Proven and excellent track record of previous working experience in similar positions.
  • High level of integrity and commitment towards governance, reforms and social justice in Kenya.
