Zinduka Afrika (ZAF) Terms of reference for a trainer of school health clubs patrons

Background information

Zinduka Afrika (ZAF) is registered in Kenya as a Non-Governmental Organization
(NGO). ZAF’s vision is to reflect compassion to the poor and needy by providing social and developmental services and supporting the creation of opportunities for economic advancement.

ZAF runs program in preventive and primary health care, economic empowerment, an integrated livelihood and Disaster and conflict management. ZAF is currently implementing HIV/AIDs interventions through Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT), support for people living with AIDS and Orphans and Vulnerable Children and general capacity building in diverse areas.

In our HIV and AIDs interventions, we have planned to train School Health Clubs Patrons from nine selected secondary schools in Kenya. In relation to this, ZAF is looking for a trainer to train the patrons.

Scope of Work

ZAF is in search of club patrons’ trainer to train eighteen club patrons who have been selected from Embakasi Kibera, Kitengela, Athi River, Makueni, Lamu and Kangundo.

Purpose of the trainings

The School Health Clubs will be formed to serve as structure which will enhance response to HIV and AIDs pandemic in schools.

This is in our attempt to promote prevention and management of the disease, ZAF has planned to train the patrons on prevention, Behavior Change and Communication (BCC) and Counseling and Testing (CT) and Creating Positive Relations (CPR) on HIV/AIDs.

The organization has planned to develop a manual on Creating Positive Relations (CPR) on HIV/AIDs. This manual will be in line with the school HIV/AIDs newly introduced curriculum. The patrons will be expected to use this manual in their training of the School, Health Club members.

Objectives

The objectives of the trainings are to:
  • Develop a manual on Creating Positive Relations (CPR) on HIV/AIDs
  • Train 18 Schools Health Club patrons from selected schools
  • Equip the patrons with information on HIV and AIDs prevention, BCC and Counselling and Testing.
  • Train the patrons on how to lead and facilitate School Health Clubs activities
Scope of Work

The scope is as the follows:
  • Develop a manual on Creating Positive Relations (CPR) on HIV/AIDs
  • Train 18 Schools Health Club patrons from the selected schools
  • Equip the patrons with information on HIV and AIDs prevention, Behaviour Change and Communication and Counselling and Testing (CT).
  • Train the patrons on how to establish , lead and facilitate School Health Clubs
  • ertificates prepared for each trained Patron
  • Prepare a report after the training and present it to ZAF Five days after the training
  • Do the training as per the training schedule which will be prepared by ZAF
Expected outputs
  • A training manual developed
  • The manual used during School Health Clubs trainings
  • 18 Patrons trained on the information indicated
  • A training for School health clubs patrons conducted
  • A reports on the trainings in place
Qualifications

The trainer should be a holder of a first degree or above in the field of Child development oriented studies / Social Science/ HIV and AIDs Management.

Skills, knowledge, experience and profile sought
  • Skills in training
  • Knowledgeable in HIV/AIDs
  • Experience in training people in the running of School Health Clubs in the stated areas
  • Experience in report writing
Requirements

  • Attach a broken down cost analysis indicating the professional fee and any other cost.
