Catholic Relief Services, Kenya Program is seeking candidates to fill the following position:
Position: OVC/HBC Project Officer
Ref.2010/12
(Fixed Term Contract up to December with a possibility of Extension)
Location: Narok
Purpose: To facilitate the implementation of OVC projects in Kenya with partners. The projects cover HIV/AIDS Impact mitigation through Home Based Care, orphan support, knowledge creation, de-stigmatization, behavior change Communication, VCT, ARV therapy, and other impact mitigation efforts.
The Officer will assist CRS local implementing Organizations in areas CRS works to efficiently undertake their interventions through capacity building and technical support.
To facilitate the implementation of the OVC/HBC projects in Kenya with partners, s/he will work closely with all Consortium partners and relevant GOK departments.
Other key responsibilities will include ensuring the integration of agriculture and microfinance to improve food security and improve household incomes.

Specific duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to partner organizations in key areas of OVC/HBC programming, HIV/AIDS prevention, care and impact mitigation.
- Ensure that the referral systems is efficient and effective
- There is a coordinated approach to service delivery
- Work with partners to administer assessment tools for both OVC and HCBC as required
- Monitor and regularly review with partner organizations the services provided to OVC/HBC beneficiaries
- Participate in the planning and facilitation of technical workshops for capacity building in OVC programming, HIV/AIDS, VCT, HBC and ART.
- Represent the agency in HIV/AIDS forums.
- Ensure proper financial management, reporting and administration of the projects.
- Conduct regular monitoring with partner staff and evaluations and report on the implementation of the project.
- Ensure regular data quality assessments are conducted to ensure quality services delivery
- Participate in project evaluations and assessments.
- Review and finalize project progress reports
- Help document lessons learnt and best practices
- Work with the supervisor to develop abstracts
Specific Qualifications:
- University degree in Social Science, Nursing, Public Health or other relevant area of study
- Have solid working knowledge (practical skills) in the following areas: OVC, HBC, VCT, Counseling, and ART.
- 3-5 year years experience implementing OVC/HBC and HIV/AIDS projects, preferably in an NGO setting.
- Experience in implementing US Government-funded projects.
- Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
- Excellent written, oral communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs).
