Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) was established by the Act of Parliament NO.6 of 1980 to promote, conduct, supervise, and co-ordinate fisheries research in Tanzania. The Institute is governed by the Board of Directors. This Institute is comprised of four Centres and one Substation: Mwanza Centre and Sota Substation on Lake Victoria, Kigoma Centre on Lake Tanganyika, Kyela Centre on Lake Nyasa (Malawi) and Oar es Salaam Centre on the Indian Ocean. The Institute Headquarters is located at Kunduchi in Dar es Salaam.

c) Qualifications
Masters degree holders in Natural or Social Science with at least two (2) years of research work experience after Masters and has published at least one (1) paper after Masters in the relevant research field in a recognized Journal.
d) Duties and Responsibilities
• Undertake specific research projects with less supervision from senior researchers or project team leader.
• Assist in the collection and analysis of research data and in gathering of relevant literature.
• Undertake appropriate courses of instruction with an aim of getting higher qualification.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned to him by senior researchers
