University College London (UCL) is one of the world's leading multidisciplinary universities and was ranked 4th in the world in this year's Times Higher Education-QS rankings. No fewer than 21 Nobel prizewinners have come from the UCL community.
We have a global reach and global vision. Some 34% of UCL students come from outside the UK, attracted from nearly 140 countries around the globe. Our research, too, reaches the farthest corners of the globe; from the conservation of antiquities in Iraq to the transformation of engineering research in Kazakhstan.
We are keen to identify world leading scholars whom we would support in application under the European Research Council's Starting and Advanced Grant schemes (no restrictions on nationality of applicant).
The European Research Council (ERC) is the first European Union funding body set up to support investigator-driven frontier research. It was created to provide a new source and philosophy for competitive funding, based on peer-reviewed excellence as the sole criterion for success. In short, the ERC has become one of the most prestigious funding bodies of European Research and Innovation.
UCL currently hosts over 25 ERC Grants under the Starting and Advanced Grants schemes with a current success rate that is more than three times greater than the European average. We invite Principal Investigators planning to make such applications who think their proposed projects might most suitably and advantageously be based at UCL to contact us using the EoI form below.
No salaries are available directly from UCL but the Starting and Advanced Grants schemes can provide 100% of salary costs for successful applicants. A permanent position at UCL is not guaranteed after the expiry date of the grant. No teaching is required.
For more information about the Starting and Advanced Grants schemes please see ERC's website.
