SOS Children's Villages Tanzania is an indigenous non government organization affiliated to SOS Children's Villages International, a worldwide child care organization that provides orphaned and destitute children with a permanent home and educational opportunities. Established 60 years ago, SOS Children's Villages International the umbrella organization, currently has Children's Villages and other projects in 135 countries around the world. Globally, it runs the SOS Children's Village Programme which has two main arms, Le Family Based Care based at SOS Children's Villages and Family Strengthening Programmes supporting families in local communities. SOS has been working in the United Republic of Tanzania since 1991, and runs three Children's Villages in Arusha, Oar es Salaam and Zanzibar and a Family Strengthening Programme in Mwanza
SOS Children's Villages Tanzania seeks to recruit suitably qualified candidates to fill the positionof the Accountant at National Office, Oar es Salaam. The incumbent will report to the Financial Controller. She\he will be responsible for the sound financial management by ensuring that national and international financial standards, procedures an~ reporting requirements are fulfilled and that the organisation's financial resources are correctly and transparently utilised.
Some of the duties and Responsibilities
• Supports preparation of the annual budget in. consultation with the Financial Controller, ensuring that sufficient financial resources are available to support the organisation's plans and activities.
• Manages the Organisation's payments and procurements and develop appropriate systems to record and recover money due to the Office
• Conducts regular checks of all stores at the National Office and all the projects
• Enter data into the accounting system
• Maintain full and accurate record-keeping, provides monthly and annual financial statements.
• Prepares all payments including salaries and maintains detailed cash and bank registers.
• Ensures that Financial Resources are Appropriately Utilised and Performs general administrative tasks
Academic Qualifications and Work Experience:
• CPA/ACCA qualified (part 2 minimum)
• Degree in Accounting/Finance/Management would be an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a busy environment (preferably with an NGO).
• The candidate must be self-motivated, innovative with new ideas and a team player.
• Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
