Internship Opportunity, Kenya Institute of Management

Set up in 1954, the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) is the leading not-for-profit
membership-based management development organization in the Region. Its mission is to
promote excellence and integrity in the practice of management. As part of its growth
strategies, the Institute has introduced a Management Internship Programme (MIP) for young talented and forward looking Kenyans who wish to embark on a Management career. This is an invitation for interested persons to apply.

WHAT IS MIP
The Management Internship Programme is an arrangement that seeks to place young and
talented Kenyans on a path that prepares them to become, in time, fully-fledged managers, both for the Institute and for other prospective employers.

OBJECTIVES OF THE MIP
• To create a nursery for the hatching and development of the future managers and business leaders;
• To assist interns acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and experience that can assist them to enter and fit into the job market;

The intern will be located at the KIM – Media Services Unit

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES /KEY RESULT AREAS

The successful candidate will be required to:
• Assist in distribution and circulation of the Journal
• Assisting in database management
• Consolidating online content
• Assisting in content development
• Consolidating business leads
• Editorial research
• Assist in market intelligence
• Consolidating feedback from clients
• Assisting in ensuring smooth running of the unit administratively

The successful candidate will be required to:

REQUIREMENTS
• A Degree/ Diploma in Mass communication or journalism
• Proficiency in the use of computer packages such as word-processing, spreadsheets etc.
• Aged Between 25-30 years of age.
• Excellent communication skills and inter-personal skills
• High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ambition
• Well developed writing skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to make quick decisions and to improvise if necessary
