GEOLOGY DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - Buzwagi Mine, Tanzania

Reporting Line: Supervisor Chemist

Location: Buzwagi Mine; Kahama District, Shinyanga Region.


Work Schedyle: Rotational Status (9 weeks on, 4 weeks off).


DUTIES:


The Database Administrator is responsible for:


• Ensure maximum profitability and extending the Life of the Mine by maintaining high quality geological data for Grade Control and Resource updates of surrounding areas, complying with JORC and NI-43-101 requirements.


• Actively participating in a Succession Planning and mentoring programme amongst the Geology team that ensures that PML commitments to the Tanzanian government with respect to the development of Tanzanian employees to allow them to assume positions of increasing accountability are achieved.


THE SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:


• To be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety, efficient utilisation of the resources and encourage teamwork across the departments.


• Maintain and update the Buzwagi Geological database.


• Data entry, validation and reporting of all Grade Control, Development and Exploration data.


• Ensuring accurate sample tracking of all RC and core sampling from onsite collection to dispatch to onsite and external laboratories.


• Monitor all assay results, ensuring QAQC standards are maintained.


• Supervising the onsite laboratory and conducting regular audits.


• Tracking all drill and geological data is accurately entered into the database.


• Generating queries and reports of data.


• Assist with preparation of weekly and monthly Geology reports as required.


• Training junior staff in data entry, validation and QAQC systems.


• Continuous improvement in data capture and reporting sy __ :ems.


• Ensure the Acquire database is backed up, install upgrades on and liaise with software vendors on support issues.


• Liaise and interact with Tanzanian Government Departments, External Contractors, Consultants and Auditors as required.


• Actively participate in a working environment which ensures Geology staff gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and interact with the community and local govemment authorities


• Organise and conduct Participatory Rural Appraisals in collaboration with the CR team to define needs of the community and deveJop community action plans to support the needs


• Support the Community Relations team in explaining resettlement activities to village leaders and impacted communities


• Design and implement education initiatives for local stakeholders to understand the mine's activities, e.g. workshops, trainings, dissemination of newsletters and mine tours


• Maintain records and a database of all meetings and engagement activities between the mine and local stakeholders


• In a timely manner, report to the Community Relations Manager all issues raised by the community


• Assist village leaders in generating quarterly reports on development projects implemented with the support of the mine in their villages


• Provide the Community Relations teams with local insights to inform the development of community engagement and development programmes


• The Community Liaison Officer will undertake community engagement activities in accordance with African Barrick Gold's standard operating procedures and policies.


• The Community Liaison officer will be required to visit impacted communities for at least 80% of his/her time on a well defined schedule in order to achieve the objectives and requirements for this position. The Officer will also be required to be highly sensitive of local culture in his/her undertakings.

• Fluent in written and verbal Kisukuma, Kiswahili and English

• Valid Tanzanian driving license at class D level


• Monthly village meetings


• Quarterly ward meeting


• At least 60% of the community aware of the mine activities


• 100% representation of the mine at community activities.


• Ability to serve as an "African Barrick Gold Ambassador" and to act in line with the Barrick Core Values at all times
