The Assistant Chemist will be responsible for the day-to-day chemical setup and improve practices, standards and procedures and providing specific technical support to other Departments and Maintenance Sections on Environment samples, Oil samples testing and testing on other lab samples.
Reporting Line: Supervisor
Location; Bulyanhulu Gold Mine; 1500km inland from Dar es Salaam; Kahama District, Shinyanga Region.
Work Schedule; Rotational Status (4 weeks on, 2 weeks off).
KEYDUTIES:
• Responsible for fuel testing, oil sample testing and environment sample analysis on day to day basis as per requirement.
• To ensure accuracy and precision on assay results which are being produced
• To produce analyzed sample reports on daily basis
• Responsible for sample preservation on daily basis as per the requirement
• Ensuring quality control systems, safety practices & housekeeping at lab at all times
• Standardizing and operating instruments like ICP, UV -Vis spectrometer, 1 pHmeter,EC-TDS meter. FTIR, Analytical balances, ion analyzer, firnaces l etc. for performing qualitative & quantitative analysis with accuracy and precession.
• Performing the functions of troubleshooting and predictive/preventive/maintenance for reducing lab instruments downtime to minimum.
• Create a working environment that ensures that he gains new skills and achieves his full potential by actively participating in his training and mentoring programs
• To provide technical support to sections related with environment samples, oil samples and other samples.
EDUCATION:
• Degree in Analytical chemistry EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 3 years experience in lab as chemist
• Preference with the experience in mining will be added advantage
• Sound fault finding experience.
• Sound communication skills of both English & Kiswahili
