Description Malteser International is the worldwide humanitarian relief service of the Order of Malta that plans and realises programmes in more than 30 countries in the world. One of the main tasks is to carry out emergency relief worldwide as well as to link relief, rehabilitation and development measures.
In South Sudan Malteser International is running a comprehensive TB/HIV, Leprosy and Sleeping Sickness Program in close cooperation with local partners (Ministry of Health, Dioceses). A strong focus is laid on building the capacity of local health staff as well as in improving the knowledge about those diseases within the people living in the communities.

Job Title Programme Coordinator

Beginning as 1st of September 2010

Job Description
The Programme Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the programme and ensures implementation of project activities.

He/she is
• Planning and coordinating the overall program of Malteser in the location.
• Identifying and organizing capacity building measures for local staff
• Ensuring the implementation of programme/project activities according to given budgets, log frames and plans.
• Being responsible for proposal development and report writing both internal and external to the donor.
• Having overall responsibility for program budget; administration, report writing, book-keeping, accountability, security, procurement, logistics, storage
• Maintaining good relationship with the local authorities and partners (e.g. Dioceses) in the location

Qualifications required /the ideal candidate will be/possess:

• working experience as coordinator / project manager in Africa
• experience with European and international Donors
• strong diplomatic and negotiation skills dealing with partners and authorities
• knowledge in administration including finance and logistics/procurement
• excellent ability to work in and lead a team of local and expatriate staff
• fully computer literate
• ability to work under difficult conditions and to recover quickly from set-backs
• physical and mental strength, sensitivity for other cultures
• Fluency in English, German desirable



Conditions:
• Salary according to qualification and experience incl. health and accident insurance
• Free accommodation in team house(compound
• 1 flight home/year
• One year contract with the possibility of extension
