Environment, Health and Safety Officer
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the successful applicant will undertake the following tasks:
- Draft, implement and maintain policies and guidelines on Environment, Safety and Health;
- Review and update the corporate EHS management system manual and monitor its implementation;
- Prepare the EHS training plan and in coordination with the Human Resource Department provide relevant training to staff;
- Formulate short term and long term EHS objectives and plans;
- Carry out accident and incident investigation;
- Promote EHS plans and monitor, evaluate and report performance against plan;
- Maintain auditing expertise and ensure execution of the quarterly audit program;
- Network and maintain contacts with partners in Health and Safety, including government authorities, legislative bodies, local councils and industrial groups;
- Provide advice on EHS to line departments;
- Promote a ‘potential incident’ reporting culture; and
- Compile and submit reports on all EHS reportable incidents to the Head of Department accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Technology or Chemical/ Process Engineering an a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management.
- The ideal candidate MUST also have thorough knowledge of Environment, Occupational Health and Safety regulations and working knowledge of the following Integrated Management Systems; QMS ISO 9001:2000, EMS ISO 14001:2004, FSMS ISO 22000:2005. OHSAS 18001: 2007.
- A minimum of three years’ experience with a reputable manufacturing company is required.
Taxation, Risk and Payables Manager
Reporting to the General Manager-Finance, the successful applicant will:
- Prepare Tax Policy and Procedures that will form the framework for Tax Compliance and Tax Risk Management within the organization;
- Carry out tax planning; Compute due taxes and prepare and submit returns and taxes to the relevant authorities as per the Uganda Revenue Authority regulations;
- support both internal and external audit processes by preparing the required schedules, carry out risk analysis and manage accounts payables and related reporting.
- Responsible for monthly and fiscal year-end closure processes, including inter-company transfer payments, journal vouchers, account reconciliation and accruals;
- Perform detailed analysis of payables balances and prepare and submit reports, documenting trends of financial and operational performance and staff management issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration or related field;
- Professional qualification in Finance & Accounting for instance CFA, ACCA, CPA;
- 5 years’ working experience preferably with a FMCG Manufacturing background.
- Expertise in using SAP is an added advantage
Boiler Operator
Reporting to the Boiler Shift In charge, the successful applicants will;
- Perform boiler operation, maintenance and trouble shootings;
- Detect operating faults and defects and report to the supervisor.
- Will also prepare daily logs of equipment utilization;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering & certificate in boiler operation;
- Must have minimum of 10 yrs experience;
- Considerable knowledge of the operation and maintenance of high-pressure/ steam, hot water boiler systems and boilers running on fuel and bio-mass required;
- Must be ready to work for long hours on shift basis.
Internal Auditor
Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, the successful applicants will do the following:
- Audit planning;
- evaluating internal controls to identify gaps and recommend remedial actions;
- Execute detailed audit procedures;
- Record of audit procedures performed;
- Make recommendations of audit processes and discuss noted issues with the relevant officers;
- Follow up to ensure that recommendations form both internal and external audits are implemented.
- Prepare for and assist in external audits.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree in Commerce from a recognized university;
- 2 years’ proven work experience in a similar role.
- Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA or ACCA.
Production Officers – Edible Oils, Soaps, Plastics
Reports to the Manufacturing Manager and duties include:
- Monitor inventory and prepare requisitions for replenishment
- Monitor and ensure production of quality products that meet customer expectations
- Ensure proper stock control and manage both raw materials and finished products
- Plan for production and ensure optimum productivity of the plant
- Responsible for all ISO issues and KAIZEN at the shop floor level
- Prepare and submit regular operational reports to the Manufacturing Manager
- On a daily basis, oversee corrective maintenance of production equipment
- Responsible for staff management
Qualifications & Experience:
- A Bachelors degree in Oil Technology or Chemical Engineering for Oil; Engineering and Technology for Soap and Plastics
- Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in the respective plants;
- Applicants for Oil must be knowledgeable of vegetable edible oil & fat processing; for plastics knowledge of both blow and injection moulding machines is required and those seeking positions in Soap manufacturing should possess extensive skill in sopanification process.
- Should be able to control shift process quality, production and routine maintenance;
- demonstrate plant maintenance and repair skills.
Workshop Supervisor (Automotive)
Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the successful applicants will;
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of vehicles;
- will handle automatic and manual transmissions and electronic systems;
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in the equipment;
- Ensure compliance of subordinates to Environment Health & Safety regulations;
- Ensure efficient use of procured parts to control costs & wastage;
- Ensure proper record keeping of all the equipment & monitor usage.
- Plan, schedule and supervise the work of artisans to ensure all work is delivered on time and to the highest standard.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Knowledge of mechanical/hydraulic systems with a good understanding of electrical and electronic engineering systems;
- Minimum of 10 years hands on exposure in repair and maintenance of vehicles;
- Considerable knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment of the automotive and mechanical trades; and occupational hazards connected with vehicle maintenance/repair;
- Excellent communicator with strong business/customer relationship building skills and
- Good analytical skills.
Maize Mill Operator
Reporting to the Miller, the successful applicants will;
- Operate the maize mill to achieve production targets;
- Carry out preventive maintenance and report complex cases for the attention of the Miller;
- On a daily basis, check and confirm that machines meet safety standards;
- Ensure maximum standards of personal and work place hygiene.
- Will be required to adhere to set company Environment, Health and Safety regulations while at work.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate in Flour Milling and three years’ relevant working experience;
- Knowledge of operating the buller milling machine will be an added advantage.
Machine Operator (Vegetable Oil Refineries and Fractionation)
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the successful applicants will:
- Carry out preventive maintenance of production machines;
- Operate production machines efficiently;
- Control wastage of materials;
- Detect and report any faults to the Plant Maintenance Electrician/Mechanic for rectification and
- perform any other related duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate in Oil processing & refining;
- Three years relevant working experience in oil refinery and fractionation
Boiler Shift in Charge
Reporting to the Boiler Engineer, the successful applicant will;
- Schedule preventive maintenance and service program of the boilers for execution by the Boiler Operators;
- Prepare operational reports on the status of boilers for submission to the Boiler Engineer and/ or discussion with the Manufacturing Manager and/or Business Unit Manager;
- Ensure compliance by staff to Company Environment, Health and Safety regulations while at work;
- Perform any related duties that may be assigned from time to time;
- Allocate work, supervise and appraise performance of staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant field;
- Certificate in boiler operation;
- Five years relevant experience;
- Experience of husk fired boilers will be an added advantage.
Instrumentation Engineer
Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, the successful applicants will;
- Lead the design, selection, specification, commissioning, and implementation of automation equipment applicable to production as well as operations
- Develop and update procedures, drawings, scopes of work, and general information regarding automation;
- Develop scope, schedule and budget for capital and upgrade projects related to instrument and controls projects;
- Design and develop new control systems;
- Maintain and modify existing systems;
- Troubleshoot and manage technical operations and ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering or a comparable degree;
- Must have minimum 10 yrs relevant experience;
- Prior experience with filing systems and logic controls as well as industry standards ( e.g. PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems)

Plant Maintenance Electrician
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the successful applicants will;
- Participate in the installation of new machines in the plant
- Carry out preventive maintenance following the schedule provided by the Electrical Supervisor
- On a daily basis, check and confirm that machines meet safety standards
- Diagnose electrical problems and carry out corrective maintenance where possible and refer complex situations to the Electrical Supervisor
- Prepare daily maintenance reports for submission to the Electrical Supervisor
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ordinary diploma in electrical engineering from a recognized institution
- Three years working experience in maintenance of manufacturing plant machinery.
Plant Maintenance Mechanic
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor/ Production Officer, the successful applicants will;
- Assist in the installation of new machines in the plant
- Carry out preventive maintenance following the schedule provided by the Mechanical Engineer
- Daily check and confirm that machines meet safety standards
- Diagnose mechanical problems and carry out corrective maintenance where possible and refer complex situations to the Mechanical Engineer
- Prepare daily maintenance reports for submission to the Mechanical Engineer and Production Officer.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ordinary diploma in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution
- Three years working experience in maintenance of manufacturing plant machinery
Auto Mechanic
Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, the successful applicants will:
- Carry out preventive mechanical repairs on company vehicles
- Service vehicles following a schedule prepared by the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
- Carry out corrective maintenance of company vehicles
- Must be able to perform major component overhauls (engines, gearboxes etc) independently
- Perform vehicle inspection, diagnose defects and do corrective repairs
- Attend to breakdowns and emergencies
- Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ordinary diploma or advanced certificate in auto motive engineering from a recognized institution
- 5 years working experience in a busy workshop
- Proficient in repairs and maintenance of Mercedes Benz Heavy Goods diesel vehicle with electronic management systems as well as Japanese goods vehicles
- Experience in repair of Actros trucks will be an added advantage.
Auto Mechanic – Special Equipments
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the successful applicants will:
- Carry out preventive mechanical repairs on special equipments
- Service vehicles following a schedule prepared by the Workshop Supervisor
- Carry out corrective maintenance forklifts
- Able to perform major component overhauls (engines, gearboxes etc) independently
- Perform special equipment inspection, diagnose defects and do corrective repairs
- Attend to breakdowns and emergencies and
- Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ordinary diploma or advanced certificate in auto motive engineering from a recognized institution
- Eight years working experience in a busy workshop
- Proficiency in repairs and maintenance of special equipments (forklifts and dumpers).
Dispatch Manager
Reporting to the General Manager – Operations, the successful applicant will;
- Prepare operational budget and work plan for the dispatch department
- Verify stock movement and age-off slow moving items
- On a daily basis, monitor & submit periodic performance reports of warehouses
- Prepare relevant dispatch documents and make associated approvals
- Oversee daily stock reconciliation and Re Order Level (ROL)
- Plan and manage the dispatch of items, manpower requirement and vehicle arrangements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree Purchasing & Supply Chain Management or other business related field
- 5 years’ working experience preferably in FMCG manufacturing background
- Must be able to manage warehousing, delivery, invoicing for high volume operations & manage staff & business in various locations
- Must be energetic, articulate, consensus builder and a natural manager.
Fleet Manager
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the successful applicants will:
- Administer duties connected with cost effective procurement processes
- develop a testing and inspection program to determine quality, suitability & compliance with specifications for vehicles, parts, accessories & materials
- Prepare monthly reports and projections on the mileage covered against the returns on investment
- Develop and implement fleet management plans
- Manage the company service providers such as garages to ensure all vehicles are well maintained
- Plan, organize & direct the work of the section.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Transport management or a comparable degree with additional related business management or equivalent
- Must have minimum 15 yrs experience in similar position within East Africa
- Prior experience in fleet management
- Experience/knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and procurement
- Experience of working with third parties such as garages, suppliers, insurance companies, licensing bodies etc
- Should have sound knowledge of workshop operations/mechanics and be a solid team leader
- Excellent supervisory and reporting skills are key
- Must be ready to work long hours
Electrical Supervisor: Lira (Uganda)
Reporting to the Electrical Engineer/ Manufacturing Manager, the successful applicant will;
- Supervise, guide and appraise the work of Plant Maintenance Electricians, Air Conditioning Technicians and Generator Technicians in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems
- Schedule, assign, plan and monitor the work of subordinates-plan and develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance
- Monitor the acquisition and use of materials
- Assist the Electrical Engineer in design requirement
- Calculate electrical load and make sure they meet set standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Higher or Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electronics
- 5 years experience of electrical repair and maintenance which includes one year of supervisory experience.
