FHI Country Director – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

FHI Tanzania is a dynamic and fast growing office with a broad portfolio of programs assisting Government of Tanzania and civil society in capacity building and technical assistance in HIV prevention, adolescent reproductive health, HIV Care and Treatment, OVC support and various research projects.
FHI now seeks qualified candidates for the position of:
Country Director – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
This is a senior position with overall responsibility for management and leadership of FHI Tanzania HIV and reproductive health program. This includes as well FHI business planning and strategic development. He/She will be responsible for country office operations, coordination and representation.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and management oversight for all FHI’s portfolio of projects and activities in Tanzania.
  • Responsible for overseeing the country office operations
  • Ensures strong collaboration and relationship building with Government and public/private agencies, funders, local NGOs/Partners,.
  • Represents FHI to, the Government, external funders and local partners.
  • Leads FHI business and resource development efforts in country.
  • Coordinating with Headquarters and Regional Office
  • May serve as project director or chief of party (COP) on designated FHI projects.
Position Requirements:
  • BS/BA in public health or related field, and 11-13 years relevant experience in international development programs
or
  • MS/MA/MPH in public health or related field, and 9- 11 years relevant experience in international development programs
or
  • PhD, MD or equivalent degree with 7 -9 years relevant experience in international development programs.
  • 5-7 years experience in management, supervision, leadership and networking.
  • Overseas field experience required
  • English language skills required; Swahili language skills desirable.
