Expression of Interest for a Consultancy Service to Conduct a Feasibility Study for the Proposed New Milk Drier
New Kenya Co-operative Creameries Ltd (New KCC) plans to construct a modern milk drier that will increase its capacity to handle surplus milk. New KCC therefore invites interested local and international firms to express their interest in conducting a feasibility study on the most suitable site, capacity of the proposed drier while providing a detailed cost benefit analysis report.

1.0 General Information:

• New KCC is a leading Kenyan Dairy, a State Corporation and wholly owned by the Government of Kenya. It has milk collection and processing facilities in all the major milk producing areas of Kenya.

2.0 The Feasibility Study

• New KCC has 3 No. milk drying factories presently situated at Kiganjo, Eldoret and Kitale Towns. New KCC has identified the need to build a new and modern milk drier to supplement the existing capacities to enable it handle the increasing production of milk in the country while encouraging growth in the industry.

3.0 Objectives of the EOI

• To gather data from New KCC, Government ministries, relevant statutory bodies and consumers and evaluate it to determine the most appropriate size technology, up and down stream equipment requirements of milk drier for New KCC.
• Survey/evaluate the current state of New KCC driers and compare with the modern available milk drying technology and advice on the best technology to adopt for the proposed new drier.
• Conduct a cost benefit analysis for the proposed project.
• Determine the feasible savings after adopting the latest energy saving measures in the design of the proposed milk drier.
• Gather national, regional and international data and project the likely trends in the dairy industry nationally regionally and globally.

4.0 Requirements

• Demonstrate at least 10 years experience in consultancy services for large agricultural industrial projects and preferably in Dairy.
• Provide a detailed Business profile.
• Demonstrate that the personnel to be deployed in this project are qualified. (Include CV’s of key staff.)
• Indicate facilities and equipment that shall be deployed for this project.
• Demonstrate experience in dealing with the relevant stake holders in the dairy industry so as to acquire the necessary data for this study.

• List of consultancy services in support
• CV’s of proposed professional staff and disciplines expected to take part in this study

7.0 Submission
Expression of interest shall be submitted in one original and one copy to:

To be received not later than 10.00 am on 24th May 2010.
The documents shall be opened immediately. Bidders or authorized representatives are invited to attend.
Only firms prequalified under this procedure shall be invited to submit their proposal thereafter.
New KCC reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications without the obligation to assign any reason for the decision.
