Internal Auditor and Procurement Officer - National Coordinating for Population and Development

The National Coordinating for Population and Development is a semi-autonomous government agency and wishes to fill the vacant positions of Internal Auditor and Procurement Officer stated below

Vacant Position: Internal Auditor

The Internal Auditor is answerable to the Agency’s Board and reports to the CEO on the day to day operations of the Agency.


Duties and Responsibilities shall include:
  • Preparation of a strategic risk-based audit plan
  • Preparation of the annual budget for the Internal Audit
  • Implementing the annual audit plan
  • Reviewing the established internal controls of the Agency and recommending improvements.
  • Issuing periodic reports on a timely basis
  • Keeping the Agency informed of emerging trends and developments in internal auditing
  • Advising the Agency on sound internal auditing principles and best practices.
  • Reviewing the levels of compliance with GoK / Donor regulations and other operational guidelines.
  • Undertaking special assignments as may be required from time to time
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate must:
  • Possess a Bachelors of Commerce Degree (Accounting Option) , Economics, Bsc Statistics or its equivalent and CPA (K) or CIA
  • Must be in possession of a Certified Internal Auditor’s qualification. Membership of relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Have at least 5 years post qualification experience in similar or related field
  • Possess skill upgrading courses in relevant areas such as Risk Management and control and Governance
  • Have demonstrated outstanding professional competence in auditing
  • Have sound knowledge in public sector and donor accounting and reporting procedures
  • Posses analytical skills in financial data/ information
Vacant Position: Procurement Officer


Duties & Responsibilities shall include:
  • Developing and maintaining an up to date procurement plan
  • Preparing periodic and annual supply chain reports
  • Undertaking market surveys on prices
  • Undertaking inventory control, procurement and disposal of stores and assets
  • Ensuring that assets are properly insured
  • Advising on standard public procurement policies, procedures, practices and systems
  • Supervising staff under him/her
  • Secretary to the Agency’s Tender Committee
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must possess a Bachelors degree in Economics, Commerce or related course
  • Have Diploma in supplies Management from a recognized Institution
  • Must be conversant with public sector procurement systems and processes
  • Have at least 5 years in position handling procurement
  • Possess a valid certificate of good conduct
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body(e.g Kenya Institute of supplies and Management (KISM)).
