CWS-FilmAid International (FilmAid) is looking for a Field Facilitator who has community mobilization and development experience in informal settlements mainly Kibera to assist in implementing a sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) activities targeting general populations of women, men and children, a project between Population Services International (PSI) and FilmAid International.
The position will involve participation in development and dissemination of videos highlighting SGBV themes through public screenings.
FilmAid International is a non-governmental organization that uses film to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted.
To effectively understand and generate discussions around all forms of SGBV it is critical to initiate a platform for information sharing through dialogue in order to create systems of reporting, treatment and prevention. It is against this backdrop that FilmAid International with support from PSI Kenya seeks to engage Kibera resident’s in dialogue around causes of SGBV, support mechanisms, reporting structures and measures for prevention.
Project Objectives
- Increase knowledge among Kibera residents through video-based activities that address issues of SGBV.
- In collaboration with the Kibera community, produce an 80 minute film on issues relating to SGBV
- Higher diploma in community development, social work, education or other relevant discipline
- At least 3 years experience in program implementation, preferably with a development organization or humanitarian aid organization
- Be a Kenyan with demonstrated ability of teamwork, networking skills, organization, and communication and planning.
- Extensive knowledge of the location with a demonstrated ability to mobilize participation from the different groups in the target locations. (Should be a resident of the target location)
- Prior experience in community development working with CBOs, FBOs, formal and informal worksites, youth in and out of school and children.
- Knowledge of the use of different art forms like drama, theatre for development, narratives, short films and community theatre an added advantage.
- Be able to demonstrate good facilitation skills through experiences over the last 6 months and where possible to show certificate of formal/informal training.
- Experience in research work and donor reporting is desirable.
- Familiarity with issues of sexual and gender based violence is a must.
- Experience working with children will be an added advantage.
