Regional Finance Manager - Sense International (East Africa) Job


Sense International is a non-governmental organisation working in East Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, with the headquarters in UK. The East Africa program operates in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, to build the capacity of local partner organisations to provide services for deafblind people, and also to strengthen organisations of deafblind people for self advocacy, in these three countries.
Sense International (East Africa) wishes to fill the position of Regional Finance Manager.
Reporting to the Director, the Regional Finance Manager will be responsible for:

  • Development of financial policies and systems for the organisation
  • Ensuring adherence to accounting procedures and systems, and that internal controls are observed
  • Preparation of budgets and monitoring of budget expenditure
  • Preparation of periodic management accounts and financial reports to Sense International (UK) and donors
  • Analysis of Country offices monthly cash requests and processing of funds transfer.
  • General office book-keeping
  • Management of petty cash
  • Bank and ledger reconciliations
  • Maintenance of Fixed Assets records
  • Liaising with external auditors.
  • Assess, develop, and implement financial capacity building of partner organizations
Qualifications, Competencies, Skills and Experience:
  • Professional accounting qualification of CPA (K), a Bachelor of Commerce degree or its equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience.
  • Knowledge of the Enabler accounting package or proven experience with relevant accounting packages.
  • Strong analytical skills and innovative to provide practical solutions.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including word-processing, spreadsheets, accounting applications and e-mail / Internet applications.
  • Demonstration of the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
