Background
| UNOPS provides project management services for clients in a range of fields where UN has a mandate. The Sudan Operations Center was established in 2004 to provide client services throughout Sudan. UNOPS has been engaged by various Donors and Government Agencies for the procurement & logistics support services and implementation of infrastructure development projects in Sudan. The General Directorate of Development Cooperation requests the partnership of UNOPS in the implementation of an intervention financed out of available resources by the Government of Italy aimed at supporting primary education in South Sudan .As per the agreement UNOPS is the implementing agency to undertake the school’s assessment, detailed design and construction/rehabilitation of schools in Lakes State in Southern Sudan. In Southern Sudan, after decades of civil war, infrastructure is virtually non-existent. The overall aim of this project is to increase school enrolment and participation especially for girls enabling student to complete at least the first four years of the primary school cycle. |
