Senior Accountant Job Vacancy

Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national for the following position, to be based in Kakuma Refugee camp.

Senior Accountant

He/She will be responsible for offering financial services assigned. He/she will work to improve the proper operations, management and improvement of the Finance department.

The incumbent will report directly to the Finance Officer, while working closely on a daily basis in collaboration with other sectors of LWF.

Key Points of Communication: Finance Officer, Area Coordinator, Deputy Project Coordinator, Project Coordinator-Turkana and the Kakuma Senior Program Officers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Writing of cheques, maintain cheque register and dispatch cheques to vendors.
  • Maintaining the bank & cash books
  • Timely writing of statutory payroll deduction cheques & reconciliation of Payroll accounts.
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations.
  • Cash withdrawals from the banks and verification of Petty cash counts
  • Preparation monthly payroll journals & reconciliation
  • Reconciliation of various Balance sheet accounts
  • Reconciliation & invoice compound debtors for security, water maintenance, salaries & wages and fuel.
  • Verification of data entries into ACCPAC.
  • To conduct random physical stock counts at the stores & overseeing the annual physical stock counts
  • Proper filling of all documents pertaining to the above tasks.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Finance Officer.

Relevant Experience

  • Possess at least CPA II.
  • At least three (3) years working experience in a busy finance office, NGO experience is an added advantage.
  • Good computer skills – MS word and Excel is a must, and knowledge on ACCPAC added advantage;
