Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in Tanzania

Reporting Line: Community Relation Superintendent Location: North Mara Mine Site

Work Schedule: Rotational Status (8 Weeks on 4 Weeks off)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To systematically listen to local stakeholders so that mine-sponsored programs are designed and modified according to the experiences and insights of the intended beneficiaries.

• To carry out the Monitoring and Evaluation sections of NMGM's Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). More specifically, to monitor whether the mine's RAP commitments are met in a timely and consistent manner that sustainably maintains and improves on people's quality of life, while evaluating steps taken against relevant standards.

• To design and implement a system for monitoring the mine's impacts on vulnerable people. And, to measure the effectiveness of programs designed to offset vulnerability.

• To follow and report internally on the mine's progress in meeting obligations under its Social Management Plan submitted to the Government of Tanzania

• To maintain the mine's social obligations register, following up with responsible parties to ensure timely and effective action.

• To track the effectiveness of the mine's grievance procedure.

• To provide an internal feedback loop on the success of mine-supported community development programs.

• To work in a complementary way with the Lands and Community Relations Departments, helping each to meet their strategic goals through ongoing, constructive input about the efficiency, effectiveness, usefulness and sustainability of key activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicants must have the following qualifications/skills:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field covering qualitative and quantitative methods

• Minimum 3 years monitoring and evaluation professional experience, including at least 1 year overseeing M & E activities

• Experience designing or tailoring M & E programs is desirable

• Professional level fluency in written and spoken both in English and Swahili

• Knowledge of community development work is required

• Knowledge of relevant international standards and best practices for the mining industry is desirable

• Demonstrated skills in planning, analysis, problem solving and lead by example

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to give occasional presentations.

• Demonstrated skills in the use of MS Office software.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills required to meet deadlines.
