Construction Supervisor
Malteser International is a German based humanitarian NGO and has been implementing health programs in South Sudan since 1997. Malteser has field locations in Yei (Central Equatoria State), Maridi (Western Equatoria State) and Rumbek (Lakes State).
Malteser wishes to recruit a Construction Supervisor for its Maridi Location Programme Office
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Planning in consultation with SSL&SC and PC the construction and rehabilitation of County Health Office/ and Health Facilities (PHCC/Us)
· Prepare documents as required by Malteser on construction and procurement
· Identify potential suppliers, contractors and labourers according to Malteser International’s policies and ensuring that local communities are included in the process and that local labourers are used for construction
· Supervise all construction works including supervising contractors and labourers to ensure the construction plan is followed, stays on schedule and on budget
· Working with the contracted construction firms/individuals in the oversight of all the aspects of construction including site clearing, excavation, concrete and structural erection, prefabrication, water systems installation, water systems testing, and buildings, and construction completion assurance including latrines.
· Submit reports and updates on work progress regularly
· Communicate daily with the construction firms on project status and the office.
· Inform and report all important issues that may affect on project progress to the PC.
· Establish good cooperation with authorities at Payams/Bomas & County.
· Coordinate regularly with contractors, stakeholders, and health facility users.
· Cooperate with all the other groups involved in the project (CHD, SMoH).
· Undertake any other duties as may occasionally be requested
QUALIFICATION
ü Nationality: Sudanese
ü Experience in construction and management of construction teams
ü Able to ride a motorcycle and stay in the field far away in villages for days
ü Ability to provide job work plans and report on a weekly basis
ü Fluent in English
ü Ability to cope with short deadlines and work pressure
ü Initiative, flexibility and willingness to work extra
ü Good computer skills
ü Knowledge of Arabic and local languages compulsory
ü At least 4 years experience in construction management
ü Previous experience working with an International NGO
ü A minimum of a Diploma in civil engineering/building construction
