Vacancy Announcement
The Carter Center assists the Ministry of Health - Government of
Southern Sudan by providing technical support to two health programs:
Guinea Worm Eradication and Trachoma Control programs. The Senior
Operations Manager will provide a full range of logistical and program
management services to The Carter Center (TCC) supported health
programs in Southern Sudan.
Title: Senior Operations Manager
Duty Station: Juba, Southern Sudan
Duration: Two-year commitment comprised of six-month contracts,
renewable subject to performance.
Closing Date: October 6, 2010
This position, under the direct direction of the regional Deputy
Resident Technical Advisor (DRTA), includes but is not limited to the
following responsibilities:
a) Supervise and monitor transportation, procurement, and operational
activities of TCC-supported programs by providing direct, day-to-day
management and oversight of the aforementioned areas;
b) Coordinate supply chain supporting 28 sub-offices and over 200
staff throughout Southern Sudan.
c) Strengthen supply chain management systems to more effectively,
efficiently and transparently move supplies and staff;
d) Supervise operations and transport;
e) Conduct weekly audits of stores ensuring all assets are
transparently accounted for;
f) Conduct thorough planning of program logistical needs on a monthly
basis and oversees bi-weekly planning and coordination meetings with
all operations staff;
g) Evaluate logistics costs and identifies areas for saving money;
and
h) Perform other program support duties as requested by the DRTA.
Qualifications:
Minimum –
a) Five years of progressive experience in logistics management
b) At least three years supervisory experience
c) Fluency in English
d) Able to work calmly under pressure and to meet deadlines
e) Maintain confidentiality of information
f) Able to create and foster teamwork
g) Demonstrated ability to use basic logistics management tools
