Collaboration between the National Council for Science and Technology and the British Council

The British Council is the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

The National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) promotes Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) through various ways Including the provision of funds for research and innovation projects.

In partnership with NCST, the British Council is implementing a new Africa Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (AKTP) programme in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda aimed at helping businesses improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the universities and research institutions.

AKTPs enable recently qualified graduates (known as AKTP Associates) to work in companies managing challenging projects central to the development needs of these companies with support from local and UK universities.

We are looking for a professionally confident, self-motivated committed recent graduate to deliver this programme in a partner project between Lake and Sea Resources Limited and Kgnya Marine and Fisheries Institute for a period of two years.

Overall Job Aim and Duties:

Based at the company premises, you will play a key role in implementing strategic development and transferring knowledge between the research institute and the company.

You will be responsible for the delivery of all project work: Meeting all corporate project management standards; Ensuring progressive reporting at all times to all programme stake holders; and Effective monitoring and evaluation of all project activity.

Generic Skills:

You will need to be able to drive the project forward and have the ability to undertake independent and supervised research. The candidates should possess good analytical, team working and communication skills.

The Lake and Sea Resources Limited and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute partnership will focus on Aquaculture business unit, as part of an integrated fish processing business and market the aquaculture products - fingerlings and table size fish.

Skills required:
  • A Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture with at least
  • Second Class Honors Upper Division
  • IT skills for data collection, research and presentation
  • Prior experience is not a prerequisite but is an added advantage
The project will entail spending significant time outside of Nairobi (in Bondo) and possible international travel.
