Responsibilities
- Payroll preparation and calculation of tax liability.
- Verification of accuracy of invoices and expense reports submitted for payment.
- Preparation of checks and supporting documentation for payment of payroll and expenses.
- Management of program funds.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts at the end of each month.
- Preparation of reports to the U.S.-based management office on the accounting activities of the project.
- Assuring full compliance with US and Kenyan government regulations including the filing of any corporate tax documents.
- Assisting with the financial management and internal auditing of the program.
- Carrying out internal audits of grantees
Qualifications
- Applicant should have a recognised professional accounting qualification (partial qualifications will not be considered), plus at least five years experience in budget preparation and financial management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and QuickBooks is required.
- Experience with PeachTree a plus.
- Prior accounting experience on USAID-funded projects would be advantageous.

- Production of all publications including the monthly Industry Update on Kenyan Horticulture and other technical analyses;
- Preparation, editing and distribution of internal reports;
- Management of project website, including strategy to increase viewership;
- Preparation and management of stands at trade shows, both within Kenya and internationally, for the project and partner organizations
Qualifications
- Applicants should be outstanding verbal communicators with excellent writing and computer skills.
- An appropriate degree or similar qualification and at least five years work experience as a communications or public relations specialist in a relevant organization are essential.
