ICCO now has an opening for a Programme Officer/Business Economic Advisor for Kenya, to be based in Kampala, who will be responsible for managing the relationship between ICCO and its partners and collaborators in Kenya in building the capacity of partner organizations to implement programmes aimed at creating fair economic development.
A key objective is to achieve increased socio-economic inclusion and empowerment of small scale producers and workers in a pro-poor and gender-sensitive way; strengthening rural entrepreneurship, value chain development and Improved access to suitable and affordable financial services.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for:-
- Identification and facilitation of programmes in strategic financing, lobbying, advocacy, capacity building and brokerage;
- Assessment of programme and project proposals as well as institutions; preparation of financing decisions;
- Monitoring and evaluation of ongoing contracts between ICCO and local partners;
- Facilitation of capacity building, advocacy and necessary expert knowledge in the programmes;
- Providing advice to partner organizations and other program officers on business, economic management and policies, including various financial instruments;
- Contributing to learning, exchange of information and knowledge-sharing.
Qualifications, skills & other requirements
- A postgraduate degree in development, economics, business administration and/or management and/or development economics.
- At least 5 years experience in development work, project management, planning & control;
- Excellent knowledge & understanding of financing and socio-economic processes in developing economies;
- Proven success in facilitating producer organizations in rural areas to get better access and prices for their produce in local and international markets;
- Well developed negotiation, communication, facilitation and social skills to initiate and maintain effective dialogue/ with partner organizations, program officers and other ICCO staff;
- Excellent understanding of the requirements of international donors and development organizations actively involved in supporting or promoting fair economic trade.
Employment will be on a two year contract, renewable depending on performance and funding; a competitive salary and benefits will be offered. This position also offers one the opportunity to uplift the economic empowerment of rural producers,
