For you that means the chance to build on your existing knowledge of HIV, malaria and other poverty related health issues, and really get to grips with the issues.
About the role
You’ll have a number of key responsibilities.
Firstly, you’ll provide technical advice and support to HIV, malaria and other poverty related health programmes globally, by working closely with other HIV and malaria staff, our country office staff and our partners.
Secondly, you’ll secure funding from institutional donors and large foundations. That means identifying new funding opportunities, assessing the potential donor’s fit with our working style and setting up meetings to explain our priorities.
Then you’ll develop and write convincing proposals with accompanying budgets.
Finally, you’ll work with colleagues to manage the contracts we win, including building capacity of programme staff and partners, to make sure we meet our commitments, fulfil donor requirements and deliver in line with agreed budgets.
About you
You’ll have knowledge of evidence-based HIV, malaria and other poverty related health programmes – knowledge that you’ll use to improve our programming.
Clearly you’ll need to be a versatile multi-tasker who can juggle priorities and work to a range of deadlines.
You’ll be flexible and adaptable in the context of a developing corporate strategy on HIV and community health and an evolving team.
You’ll have already developed proposals and managed contracts within an international NGO, so you’ll be thoroughly familiar with donors like the EU, USAID and DFID.
What’s more, you’ll have developed strong, succinct writing skills and strong budgeting (and financial reporting) skills.
Add a meticulous approach to detail, loads of confidence and a flair for analysis, and you could soon be travelling extensively and using your initiative to the full.
