Socio-economist / Accountant - Tanzania

In the process of consolidating the activities related to CEFA NGO in Ikondo Ward (Njombe District), and with special reference to the establishment of a Micro-financial Institution, the partners of Cefa Ikondo Project wish to inform the general public about the following employment opportunity for one:
Job Title: Socio-economist / Accountant
Duty Station: Ikondo Ward
Duration of the Assignment: 1 year, with possible extension
Starting Date: 13/03/2010
Specific Duties / Responsibilities:
§ promoting the creation of a Committee for the Micro-financial Institution’s Management, and supporting the training of its members;
§ collecting information for the establishment of the Credit Institution; supporting the drawing of its statute and regulations and assisting its registration, according to the in force tanzanian laws;
§ planning and running the micro financial activities and their promotion within the Ward;
§ assisting the beneficiaries for the drawing up of business plans, prior to the granting of the requested credits;
§ daily cash and general accounting activities (issuing and collecting credits, maintaining books of accounts, passing entries on work-sheet file, etc);
§ producing on a regular basis reports and assessments about the extent of granted credits, their restitution by beneficiaries, the trend of economical benefits achieved by local communities, etc.
Required Qualifications and Related Experience:
§ should posses a Degree or Advanced Certificate in Economics or Social Sciences , issued by a recognized Academic Institution;
§ should have experienced at least 6 months; former, proven job experiences and/or internships pertaining to micro-financial activities are a preferential condition;
§ ability in conducting training and capacity building sessions;
§ teamwork ability in multicultural contexts, with project staff and local partners;
§ computer knowledge;
§ proficiency in written and spoken English;
Payment / Salary:
Attractive from the onset of tenure, and adjustable during the tenure to accommodate increased cost of living.
